Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Yokozuna Asashoryu! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Josh Crackhead! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Dillan Fox and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Crackhead blocks a jab. Yokozuna Asashoryu seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A jab from Asashoryu misses. Crackhead shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Asashoryu sprawls well. Asashoryu wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Crackhead gets slowly back to his feet. Asashoryu waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Crackhead. Asashoryu misses with a hook. Asashoryu swings for the body but Crackhead moves out of range.
Asashoryu lands a big head kick that sends Crackhead tumbling to the mat! Asashoryu takes a step backwards and waves Crackhead back to his feet - he wants the finish!
It looks like Josh Crackhead has been cut. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Crackhead displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Asashoryu throws out the jab. Asashoryu throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Crack! Asashoryu connects with the perfect overhand right and Crackhead falls face first to the canvas. Timbeeeeeeeer! Beautiful knockout for Asashoryu!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Yokozuna Asashoryu! Yokozuna Asashoryu decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
