Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Rick Hunter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kent Steiner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kent Steiner has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Rick Hunter's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rick Hunter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kent Steiner!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Winston Howard and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No joy there for Steiner, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Steiner fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Nice shot lands for Hunter.
Steiner looks for a takedown but Hunter sprawls well.

Steiner shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Hunter manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Hunter looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Steiner is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Steiner postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
This has been an exciting period of action!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hunter utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Kent Steiner.

Hunter lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Steiner sprawling to the canvas. Hunter follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Steiner hang on?

This has been an exciting period of action!

Hunter stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Steiner to get to his feet.

Steiner decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Steiner prevents Hunter from standing back up.
Hunter works his way to full guard. Good work.
Steiner throws a strike but Hunter rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Hunter controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Steiner is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Steiner misses with a takedown attempt
and Hunter counters with a straight right hand.
Rick Hunter has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kent Steiner.

Hunter moves into the clinch successfully.
Hunter manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Steiner bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Hunter wants to get back to his feet but Steiner drags him back down.
I wouldn't like to be where Hunter is right now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rick Hunter dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Steiner looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Hunter looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Steiner is nestled in close to Hunter, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Steiner wants to stand and escape but Hunter is having none of it.

Hunter slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Steiner wants to get back to his feet but Hunter is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Hunter stands and throws Steiner's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Steiner wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Hunter stands up.
Hunter misses with a hook.
Hunter fails with the takedown.
Rick Hunter is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Hunter stuffs the takedown attempt from Steiner. Steiner gets slowly back to his feet.
Hunter tries to clinch but Steiner is having none of it.
Steiner tries to score a power double leg takedown but Hunter sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Steiner somewhat.

Steiner looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Hunter is fending him off so far but Steiner persists. Nope, Hunter circles away and we're back to standing.
Hunter throws a front kick that sends Steiner stumbling back into the cage.
Steiner is breathing heavily.
The fight stays on the outside here - Hunter looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Hunter gets a clinch.
Steiner changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Hunter fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Hunter tests Steiner's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Hunter scoring well with a low kick there.
Steiner has his takedown stuffed
and Hunter counters with a straight right hand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rick Hunter dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. And we move into the final round!


Steiner dodges the punch combination from Hunter.
Hunter swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Some bone on bone action there as Hunter checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Steiner changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hunter tries to avoid it but Steiner manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hunter to the ground. Hunter escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Hunter, as that shot connected.
Hunter stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Hunter wants it to stay on the feet.
Sloppy strikes from Steiner. Those never looked like landing.
Steiner shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Hunter but Hunter pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Rick Hunter has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kent Steiner.
Hunter throws a nice looking combination but Steiner bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Steiner takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

and Steiner takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Steiner is still on wobbly legs! Can Hunter finish him?
Steiner is starting to get sloppy and is letting his hands down. Hunter just took advantage and landed a stinging jab. Oh! Now a right hook, right on the button! Steiner has gone limp and this one is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:56 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Rick Hunter!
