Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Joeseph Unpingco! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bob Wallace! The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Bruno Hogan and Steve Erwin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Unpingco gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Wallace counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Wallace wants to control from the top but Unpingco keeps moving. Unpingco wants to sweep but no luck. Wallace wants to control from the top but Unpingco keeps moving. Unpingco is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Wallace is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Bob Wallace was stalling too much, according to the referee. No luck with that takedown attempt from Unpingco. Wallace stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Wallace wants it to stay on the feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joeseph Unpingco. That's going to take a lot out of him. Wallace will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wallace pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Unpingco tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Wallace swivels and escapes. Unpingco has his takedown stuffed and Wallace counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Unpingco wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Wallace pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Unpingco is keeping the position for now. Wallace controls from within his opponent's guard. Unpingco pulls Wallace in close to prevent any damage. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Joeseph Unpingco wasn't doing enough on the ground. Unpingco gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Wallace counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Wallace. Unpingco knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Wallace on the ground.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Wallace showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Wallace trying to control but Unpingco is working from the bottom. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Wallace stopping the sweep attempt from Unpingco. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Unpingco is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Wallace avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Unpingco. Wallace wants to control but Unpingco is keeping busy and won't allow it. Unpingco scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Unpingco throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Unpingco missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Unpingco throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Wallace to regain full guard. Wallace looking for a sweep. Not yet Wallace, not yet. Unpingco postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Unpingco scoring with some ground and pound. Unpingco postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Unpingco content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Unpingco is looking to work some ground and pound but Wallace has wrist control. Wallace wants to sweep but no luck. Wallace is looking for a triangle but Unpingco pushes his legs off easily.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Wallace has momentary wrist control but Unpingco slips an elbow through the middle. Wallace utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Unpingco throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Unpingco throws an elbow that misses. Wallace uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Unpingco's guard. Nice move by Wallace! Unpingco is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Unpingco wants to sweep but no luck. Wallace wants to control from the top but Unpingco keeps moving. Unpingco is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Wallace seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Unpingco pulls Wallace in to control the position. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
We're going to have a standup here because Joeseph Unpingco wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Unpingco tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Wallace swivels and escapes. Joeseph Unpingco seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Wallace defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Unpingco. Unpingco shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Wallace is trying to defend but Unpingco finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Joeseph Unpingco will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Unpingco looking to sweep here. No luck so far. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Unpingco trying to keep a closed guard but Wallace is proving a slippery customer.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Joeseph Unpingco. Unpingco tries for a takedown but Wallace sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joeseph Unpingco. That's going to take a lot out of him. Unpingco misses with a takedown and Wallace counters with a nice double leg into side control. Unpingco won't be happy with that.

Unpingco is trying to control Wallace's posture but Wallace avoids it. Wallace controlling the position. Unpingco tries to get back to half guard but can't. The strikes coming from Wallace are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Unpingco is trying to improve his position. Wallace wants to control but Unpingco is keeping him busy. Wallace has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Unpingco is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Wallace yanks on the arm and Unpingco is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Wallace.
