PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Horton Hoo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcus Griffin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Horton Hoo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marcus Griffin!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, John Kavanagh and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hoo fakes the leg kick and cracks Griffin in the body.
Hoo scores with a kick to the midsection.
A chopping leg kick lands by Hoo.
Griffin misses with a jab, cross combination.
Griffin dips to his left and cracks Hoo with an uppercut!
Hoo misses with a head kick.
Griffin will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Hoo is looking to slow Griffin down with leg kicks.
Griffin throws a hook but Hoo avoids it easily.
Hoo dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Griffin. That did some damage!
A head kick misses from Hoo.
Griffin tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Hoo was well out of range. Poor timing from Griffin.
A right-left combo lands from Griffin.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Hoo connects with a leg kick. Griffin looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Hoo displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Griffin.
Griffin misses with a straight left.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Griffin tries to bench press Hoo off him but Hoo keeps the position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hoo lands some shots froms side control.
Griffin regains half guard, as Hoo was trying to land strikes.
Hoo is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Griffin wants to control but Hoo is keeping busy.
Hoo works his foot free and advances to mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Griffin is working to get back to half guard.
Griffin manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Hoo wants to advance to full mount but Griffin doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.
Hoo preventing the sweep.
Hoo throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Hoo postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hoo stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Griffin swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Griffin lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Hoo!
Hoo takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Griffin tries to control but Hoo wriggling away.

Hoo can't escape the position.
Griffin lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Griffin scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Hoo can't escape the position.
Griffin raining down hammerfists from mount.
BOOM! Griffin connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Hoo sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Griffin has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Hoo is trying to get back to full guard.
Hoo manages to get to full guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Griffin is pushing down on Hoo's leg trying to pass to half guard. Hoo is fighting to maintain full guard but Griffin has managed to sneak the leg through.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Marcus Griffin will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Griffin shoots in looking for a takedown but Hoo manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Griffin's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Hoo throws a head kick but Griffin moves out of range.
Griffin misses with a double jab.
Griffin avoids the head kick by Hoo.
Griffin throws an overhand right that lands on Hoo's shoulder, as Hoo tries to avoid the shot.
Griffin has a takedown stuffed.
Griffin on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

and Hoo counters with a nice double leg into side control. Griffin won't be happy with that.
Horton Hoo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marcus Griffin.

Hoo with the ground and pound but Griffin regains half guard under the barage of strikes.
Hoo wants to lay and pray for a moment but Griffin keeps working.
The fighters are battling for position here. Griffin manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Hoo throws an elbow that misses. Griffin uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Hoo's guard. Nice move by Griffin!

Hoo sneaks back into half guard.
Hoo knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Griffin on the ground.

Hoo tries to get to full guard but Griffin has control of the leg.
Griffin landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Griffin winds up and cracks Hoo with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Hoo on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Hoo tries to get out of the position.

Hoo wants to get back to full guard.
Griffin lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Griffin seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Hoo does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Griffin is just content to waste time from the top position. Hoo takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Griffin keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Hoo's head.

Griffin might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Hoo haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Hoo is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Griffin throws a strike but Hoo rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Marcus Griffin showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Well Griffin has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
