PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jackson Williams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Staph Aureus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Williams comes into the arena with Ringfinger blaring out of the sound system. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jackson Williams!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Staph Aureus!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Cecil Peabody and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Williams showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Aureus.

Aureus moves into the clinch.
Aureus is defending well against a takedown attempt.

Aureus wants the takedown. Williams is fighting it off but Aureus persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Williams's guard against the cage.
Aureus missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Aureus advances to half guard.
Williams moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Williams preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Aureus must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Aureus is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Williams is on top in guard.
Williams throws a big elbow that misses.
Aureus trying to keep a closed guard but Williams is proving a slippery customer.
Aureus keeping moving, preventing Williams from controlling successfully.
Williams is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Williams drops back looking for a leg! Aureus is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Aureus manages to kick Williams off! Williams jumps back into Aureus's guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Aureus is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Williams is controlling him.
Williams controlling from the top position.
Williams trying to control the position from guard on top but Aureus is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Jackson Williams just wasn't active enough.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Williams, as that shot connected.

Aureus moves into the clinch.
Aureus is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Williams is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Aureus is defending well.
Williams has Aureus pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Aureus manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jackson Williams. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Williams has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Aureus avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Aureus wants to take the fight to the mat but Williams manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Williams escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Williams misses with a hook. Aureus ducked under it nicely.
Staph Aureus is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Aureus is looking to clinch but Williams is avoiding it.
Williams throws a shot to the body.
Aureus looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Aureus thuds his shin into the meat of Williams's side.
Williams slips under a jab.
Aureus fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Williams has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Williams uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Aureus.
Aureus tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Williams manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Williams tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Aureus was well out of range. Poor timing from Williams.
Aureus misses with the combination.
Williams pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Aureus gets caught napping as Williams dives in and scores a takedown. Aureus manages to retain guard.
Williams is pushing down on Aureus's leg trying to pass to half guard. Aureus is fighting to maintain full guard but Williams has managed to sneak the leg through.
Aureus tries to kick Williams off in order to stand up. Williams Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jackson Williams will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Aureus swings for the body but Williams moves out of range.
Aureus dodges the punch combination from Williams.
Aureus is looking to chop away at Williams's legs.
Donk. Williams catches Aureus right on the button with a cross.


It looks like Staph Aureus has been cut.

Williams scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Aureus dodges the ground and pound from Williams.
Williams controls the position from side control.

Williams is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Aureus has escaped the position, nice work there.
Williams throwing shots but missing, from side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Williams thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Aureus dodges the ground and pound from Williams.
Williams is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Aureus will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Aureus really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Williams. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Aureus is not content to let Williams control the position.
Williams advances to mount.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Williams has control of Aureus's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Aureus regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Aureus is squirming around, avoiding Williams's attempts to control the action.

Williams moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Aureus has worked his arm free - good work by Aureus!

Williams tries for a kimura but Aureus is defending well.
Williams taking a break here but Aureus is having none of it and regains half guard.

Williams is looking for a kimura here.

Aureus is looking to improve his position.
Williams trying to control from half guard but Aureus is working away.

Williams is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jackson Williams dominated that second round.
The cut man is working on Staph Aureus's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Aureus throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Williams scores with a hook.
Aureus throws a series of punches but Williams avoids them all with ease.
A telegraphed right hand from Williams misses the target.
Some wild striking there from Aureus.
A jab from Williams misses.
Williams avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Aureus staying out of range there.
Williams looks to land a left hand but Aureus moved out of range nicely.
Williams lands with a good body shot.
Williams lands the left hand.
Williams cracks Aureus with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Staph Aureus is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Aureus uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Williams.
Aureus throws a leg kick but Williams checks it.
Williams throws a lazy uppercut
and Aureus counters with a stiff right hand.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Williams drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Williams advances nicely into full mount.
Aureus takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Williams with a couple of short strikes.


The cut above Staph Aureus's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Aureus holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Williams tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Williams trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Staph Aureus has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Jackson Williams is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Williams is landing with some decent strikes but Aureus is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.


Staph Aureus's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Staph Aureus's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:37 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Jackson Williams!
