PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Samuel Krind (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Allen Mason (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Samuel Krind!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Allen Mason!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Elvis Blanc and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mason tries for a takedown but Krind sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Krind clinches up with Mason and pushes him back against the cage.

Krind has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Mason regains guard immediately.
Krind wants to control from the top but Mason keeps moving.
Mason working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Krind.
Krind stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mason swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Krind stands and steps away. Mason gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Mason.

Krind gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Krind with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.


It looks like Allen Mason has been cut.

Krind gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Mason holds on and takes a little breather.
Krind is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Mason is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Mason keeping moving, preventing Krind from controlling successfully.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Krind throws a head kick that misses.

Mason pushes Krind up against the cage in a clinch.

Mason is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Krind gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Mason tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Krind has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Mason avoids a series of strikes thrown by Krind.

Krind goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Mason turns into him and now he's in Krind's guard.
Krind is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Mason is standing up over Krind. Krind looks to escape but Mason dives into side control.
Krind is trying to control Mason's posture but Mason avoids it.

Mason misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Mason tries for a kimura but Krind is defending well.

Krind is breathing heavily.
Mason scores with punches from side control.

Mason lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Krind down.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Mason looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Mason content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Mason postures up in Krind's guard and throws a big left but Krind blocks it.
Mason connects with a couple of short punches.

Mason throws a strike but Krind rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Allen Mason has got the better of the ground game so far.
Krind controls from within his opponent's guard.
Krind wants to control from the top but Mason keeps moving.

Krind is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Mason is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Mason is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

We're going to have a standup here because Samuel Krind wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
No luck for Mason with that takedown attempt.

Mason shoots in for a double leg but Krind sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Krind pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Mason back to the cage. Krind follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Krind is controlling the pace.
Krind throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Mason has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Krind passes the guard and advances to mount!

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Krind's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Krind duly obliges.

Mason will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Krind up against the cage.

Mason is trying to keep Krind in close.

Samuel Krind has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Mason pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Krind lands with a kick to the ribs.

Krind closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Mason quickly recovers to half guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Krind keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Mason gets back to full guard.

Mason is trying to keep Krind in close.
Krind's corner is telling him to maintain position.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Mason is pulling down on Krind's head. It's preventing any offense from Krind, at least for the moment.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Good anti-grappling being displayed by Krind as Mason tries to tie him up.

Mason is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Krind defends it well.
The fighters are battling for position here. Krind manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Krind has his foot on Mason's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Mason works his way back into a safe position though.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Mason accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Mason throwing strikes from guard but Krind blocks nicely.

Mason decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Krind, up you get!

Mason moves into range and clinches up with Krind.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Mason wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Krind with an attempt at a knee that misses.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Krind jumps guard.
Allen Mason has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Samuel Krind is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Krind looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Samuel Krind.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Krind, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
