Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mingo Deems (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daithi MacThomais (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mingo Deems!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Daithi MacThomais!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Anthony Taglia and Bruno Lombardi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
MacThomais on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Deems fails in his attempt to clinch.
MacThomais closes the distance and clinches up with Deems, looking for a takedown. MacThomais pushes Deems against the cage but Deems circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Mingo Deems seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Deems throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
The fight stays on the outside here - Deems looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
MacThomais swats away the attempt to clinch by Deems.
Deems throws a series of punches but MacThomais avoids them all with ease.

and MacThomais counters with a stiff right hand.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Deems pushes MacThomais off looking to stand but MacThomais dives back in and keeps control.
Deems is trying to get back to full guard.
Deems is looking to control MacThomais's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Deems avoid being mounted?
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
MacThomais is working for a submission of some sort.
The fighters are battling for position here. Deems manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

MacThomais not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Deems working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from MacThomais.
MacThomais controls from within his opponent's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Deems has his foot on MacThomais's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. MacThomais works his way back into a safe position though.
MacThomais slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Deems controls MacThomais momentarily but MacThomais frees himself.

MacThomais is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
MacThomais is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
MacThomais stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Deems swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Deems trying to control the position.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
MacThomais fails with a takedown attempt.
Deems ducks down and throws a hook to the body but MacThomais moves away.
MacThomais tries to land a front kick but Deems steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
MacThomais walks into a stiff left hand from Deems.
MacThomais keeps the fight on the outside.
Deems throws a leg kick that misses.
Deems has closed the distance and engaged MacThomais in a clinch.
MacThomais fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Mingo Deems has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Daithi MacThomais.
Deems is looking to break free of the clinch but MacThomais has double underhooks.
MacThomais pressing his opponent against the cage.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Deems wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but MacThomais has him pressed against the cage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Deems working hard to break the clinch.
MacThomais has picked Deems up - he's going for a ride! MacThomais dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Mingo Deems will probably get the nod.
That's time! Back to the action!
Deems misses with a body kick.
MacThomais changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Deems looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
MacThomais really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Deems. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Deems is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
MacThomais trying to control the position but Deems is working away.
MacThomais is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Deems manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
MacThomais wants to sweep but Deems has passed to side control!
That's one minute gone in the round.
Deems sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but MacThomais is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
MacThomais can't do much from the bottom here.
Deems is working to tighten is grip on MacThomais's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. MacThomais has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Deems is really squeezing tight and eventually MacThomais passes out! Deems breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
