Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 28 - 0, fighting out of New York, John White!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Shawn Cote!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Columbo Gatti and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cote gets tackled into the cage by White. White maintains the clinch.
White swings away with an uppercut that misses.
White misses with some punches.
Nice body punch from White.
White misses with the head strike.
A shot in the inside from White.
Cote blocking some punches.
White is defending well against a takedown attempt.
White working aggressively here.
White presses Cote against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
White scores with a shot to the side of Cote's head.
White lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Cote backwards.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for White.
Cote blocking some punches.
White tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
White misses with a punch on the inside.
White gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Cote.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
White misses with some punches.

White pushes Cote back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
White lands a body shot in the clinch.
White misses with some punches.
White working some nice short punches in the clinch.
White throws a head punch that misses.
Cote blocks an uppercut.
Cote tries to pull guard but White forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
John White has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Shawn Cote.

Cote decides to pull guard.
Cote throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
White in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Cote looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

White gets to his feet. Cote looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

and Cote counters with a head kick. That will keep White thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

White fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Cote, pushing him back against the cage.
White throws a head punch that misses.
White fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

White lands a hook to the side of the head.
Cote goes for a takedown in the clinch but White prevents it.
White throws a punch but it's blocked by Cote.
Cote blocks a body shot from White.

Cote drags the fight down to the ground.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
White preventing the sweep.
Cote tries to strike from the bottom.

White is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
White throws a strike but Cote rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

White throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Cote escapes and throws White's legs to the side, diving into side control!

White is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Cote off and has taken his back!

White looking to break Cote's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Cote remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise White will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
Cote rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
White throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
White not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Cote is defending against the submission attempts here by White.
White thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Cote's head.
Cote controlling the position for now.
The fighters are battling for position here. Cote manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Cote has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but White can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Cote bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in White's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

White looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Cote passes into side control.

Cote tries for a kimura but White is defending well.
Cote controls the position.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
White tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
White is wriggling around trying to escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John White dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


White fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
White looks for a takedown but Cote sprawls well.
White tries for a takedown but Cote circles away easily
and Cote counters with a nice leg kick.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John White. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from White is defended easily by Cote.
Cote tries to clinch up but White circles away and keeps his distance.
Cote changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. White tries to avoid it but Cote manages to keep hold of a leg and drag White to the ground. White escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Cote shoots in for a double leg but White sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Nice takedown defense from White. No joy for Cote on that attempt.
Cote throws a head kick but White moves out of range.

Cote tries to keep at a distance but White has taken the fight into the clinch.
White lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Cote drops down looking for an ankle pick but White pulls his leg out and moves away.
John White is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

White shoots in but Cote avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Cote slips a jab and a cross from White.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from White is defended easily by Cote.
White fails with the takedown

and Cote counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Cote.
Cote is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

White had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Cote defends it easily.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Cote's corner is telling him to maintain position.
White looking to hit a scissor sweep but Cote is one step ahead there.

Cote stands up and waves to White to follow him.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Cote slaps away a takedown attempt from White, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Cote closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. White quickly recovers to half guard.
White is pressing down on Cote's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Cote avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Cote controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Shawn Cote has got the better of the ground game so far.
Cote distracts White with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

White looking for a guillotine here but Cote defends easily.

White looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Cote has picked White up and slammed him! White can't keep hold of the triangle and Cote manages to pass to side control!
White gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
White is desperately trying to improve his position but Cote has a good base and remains in mount.
Cote looking to control and managing it successfully.
Cote wants to control the pace but White is squirming around nicely.
Cote breaks from White's wrist control and lands an elbow.
White is looking to get to half guard.
White is working hard here to advance position.

Cote takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Cote fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Cote has hold of an arm here, looking to extend it. He's committed to the armbar attempt here! Will he get it?! Yes! White is forced to tap!
