Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Johnny Pettis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Fedor Emelianenko !
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Sosuke Kotani and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Emelianenko looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Emelianenko rushes Pettis and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Pettis goes for a takedown attempt but Emelianenko pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Emelianenko shoots for a double leg takedown but Pettis sprawls well. He's pushed Emelianenko 's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Emelianenko looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Pettis shoots in for a takedown but Emelianenko shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Emelianenko gets caught napping as Pettis dives in and scores a takedown. Emelianenko manages to retain guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Emelianenko wants to hit a switch here but Pettis passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Emelianenko there!
Pettis scoring with strikes but Emelianenko is staying in there.


It looks like Fedor Emelianenko has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Pettis can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Emelianenko is looking to escape.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Emelianenko keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Pettis controlling from mount.
Emelianenko looks winded!
Emelianenko wants to hold on but Pettis pushes him away.

Pettis is standing up, even though he is in mount.

Pettis gets a takedown into half guard.

Pettis stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Emelianenko should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The fight stays on the outside here - Emelianenko looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Pettis gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Emelianenko counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Johnny Pettis. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Pettis misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Emelianenko tries to keep at a distance but Pettis has taken the fight into the clinch.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Pettis is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Emelianenko can't fight it off and eventually Pettis manages to take the fight to the floor. Emelianenko looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Pettis is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Pettis advances position into side control!

Pettis has hold of Emelianenko 's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Emelianenko seems comfortable defending it but Pettis has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Emelianenko is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Emelianenko is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Pettis couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:16 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Johnny Pettis!
