PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Dmonray Malapitan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Otou Hek (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Malapitan comes into the arena with My Time is Now blaring out of the sound system. Hek has chosen Анна Морячк as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 15 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dmonray Malapitan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Otou Hek!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Reed Andrews and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hek has Malapitan up against the cage in a clinch.
Hek throws an elbow but it misses.
Malapitan gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Hek.
Malapitan blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Malapitan is trying to drag Hek to the mat but Hek just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Hek breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Hek closes the distance and clinches.

Hek decides to pull guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Malapitan wants to control from the top but Hek keeps moving.
Malapitan is really struggling to control Hek but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Hek looking for a sweep. Not yet Hek, not yet.
Malapitan trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Malapitan passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Hek is looking for a sweep.

Hek parries the strikes from Malapitan easily there. Malapitan is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Hek to escape.

Malapitan throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Hek works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.

Malapitan looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Malapitan is trying to control. Hek wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Malapitan is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Malapitan throws a strike but Hek avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Malapitan wants to control from the top but Hek keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hek utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Malapitan really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Malapitan throws an elbow that misses. Hek uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Malapitan's guard. Nice move by Hek!

Malapitan is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Hek stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Malapitan swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Malapitan controls Hek momentarily but Hek frees himself.
Hek won't allow Malapitan to sweep him here.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

We're going to have a standup here because Dmonray Malapitan wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Malapitan avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Malapitan blocks a head kick by Hek.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

and Malapitan counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Hek's guard now.

Malapitan has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Hek wants to sweep here but Malapitan controlling him for the moment.

Malapitan drops back, looking for a kneebar! Hek looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Hek looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Hek!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Malapitan is squirming around, avoiding Hek's attempts to control the action.

Malapitan regains half guard.
Hek is trying to control the action in half guard but Malapitan is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Hek wants to free his trapped foot but Malapitan is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Malapitan tries to roll over but Hek keeps him under control.

Hek is looking for a kimura here.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Otou Hek will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Hek wants to slow Malapitan down by chopping away at his legs.
Hek misses with a body kick.
Malapitan displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Hek.
Hek connects with a leg kick. Malapitan looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Hek tries to score with a low kick but Malapitan moves his leg out of the way.

Dmonray Malapitan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Otou Hek.

Dmonray Malapitan overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Hek sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Malapitan's guard.

Malapitan has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Hek is working away from the top position though.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Hek. Malapitan shrugs it off though.
Hek looks to land a combination but Malapitan avoids it well.

Hek gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

It looks like Dmonray Malapitan has been cut.
Hek tries to break the clinch but Malapitan is controlling the position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Otou Hek comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Hek has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
