The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barao throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Gable wants to clinch.

Barao gets tackled into the cage by Gable. Gable maintains the clinch.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Barao has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Gable tries for a takedown but Barao manages to get underhooks.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Barao has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Gable is working away from the top position though.

Gable shoots in for a takedown but Barao shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Barao clobbers Gable with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Barao looks to land a combination. Gable sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Barao throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Gable stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Barao goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Gable takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Barao cracks Gable with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Gable throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Barao's waist but Barao gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gable off to one side.
Horrible takedown by Gable or perhaps it was just good defense by Barao which made him look bad.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Barao moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Gable shoots for a double leg takedown but Barao sprawls well. He's pushed Gable's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Hendo Gable hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
