Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Thie Lion! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mike Stund! The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Daniel Cesar and Alexandre Firmino.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lion scores with a takedown into Stund's guard. Lion thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Lion throws a strike but Stund rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Lion tries to land a sweep but no joy. Lion looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Stund passes into half guard.
Stund is looking to take a break and control but Lion is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Stund tries to stand and escape but Lion is controlling the position. Lion tries to roll over but Stund keeps him under control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Stund is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Lion wants to get back to full guard. Lion tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Stund throws out a leg kick but Lion moves out of range and Stund only half commits. Stund throws a low kick but it's checked well by Lion. Stund throws a right and a left that Lion avoids nicely. Stund pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Lion blocks a leg kick. The fight moves into the clinch position. Lion changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Stund fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Lion closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Lion is working for a kimura but Stund is defending it quite comfortably.
Stund wants to get back to full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lion is pressing down on Stund's thigh, looking to free his foot. Stund is holding on for now. Lion looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Lion is breathing heavily. Lion prevents Stund from standing back up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lion sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Stund defending well though. Lion is trying to work for a kimura but Stund is defending well.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Stund is looking to slow Lion down with leg kicks. Stund scores with a three punch combo!
Stund takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards. Lion shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Stund wants to get back to full guard. Lion is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Stund doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Lion.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lion throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Stund trying to control from the bottom.
Lion is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Stund! Stund can't escape the position.
Lion really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. BOOM! Lion connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Stund is bucking up trying to escape but Lion cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Stund tries to reverse the position but Lion maintains control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Thie Lion dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Stund throws a body kick, spinning off balance and Lion counters with a nice double leg into guard. Lion postures up and lands a big shot to Stund's brow. Stund wants to stand and escape but Lion is having none of it. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Stund is on top in guard.
Stund must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Lion looking for a sweep. Not yet Lion, not yet. Lion throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Lion manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Stund manages to get himself to full guard.
Stund controls Lion momentarily but Lion frees himself. Stund is breathing heavily. Lion with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lion connects with a couple of short punches. Lion has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Lion is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Lion will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Lion drops back, looking for a kneebar! Stund looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Stund looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Stund! Lion is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Lion throws an elbow to the body but it doesn't land. Lion is looking to regain half guard here but Stund keeps moving and retains side control. Stund wants to stand but Lion has him controlled and pulls him back into his guard. Lion is striking but Stund is not phased and passes to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lion gets full guard. Lion keeping moving, preventing Stund from controlling successfully. Lion throws his legs up looking for a submission but Stund uses it to pass to side control.
Lion is trying to improve his position. Lion sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Stund tries to stand but can't do so whilst Lion controls his leg. Lion tries to roll over but Stund keeps him under control. Stund wants to get back to his feet.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Lion's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Lion duly obliges. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Thie Lion dominated that second round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!
Lion cracks Stund with a right hand to the side of the head. Lion darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Lion lands with a punch from half guard. Lion is working for a kimura but Stund is defending it quite comfortably.
Thie Lion overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Lion is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Stund has managed to free his arm - good work. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Lion is looking to advance position but Stund won't allow it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lion not landing any meaningful shots this time. Stund wants to control but Lion is keeping busy.
Lion passes to full mount! Stund is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Lion landing shots from mount. Lion prevents Stund from getting the reversal. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Stund wants to hold on but Lion pushes him away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. A nice elbow there by Lion. Lion cracks Stund with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Lion is in the full mount, landing strikes. Stund is looking to improve his position but Lion isn't that keen on the idea. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Stund has given up his back here.
Lion working for the choke. Lion is working the ground and pound here and the referee is taking a close look at Stund. He must escape soon or this one will be stopped. Stund is trying to stand back up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lion looking for the rear naked choke. And he's got it! Stund taps!
