Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Bruno Rebelo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Antonio Gracie! The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Mauricio Rocha and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rebelo fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Gracie has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Gracie drops Rebelo with a nice combination! Gracie dives into Rebelo's guard, looking to finish!
It looks like Bruno Rebelo has been cut. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Gracie tries to free his leg and advance position but Rebelo is retaining full guard. Rebelo is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Gracie wants to pass the guard but Rebelo is keeping the position. Gracie advances position into side control! Gracie wants to stand but Rebelo is controlling his arm. Rebelo struggling a bit here. Gracie tries for a kimura but Rebelo is defending well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gracie is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Rebelo knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Gracie tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Gracie is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Rebelo is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Gracie tries for a kimura but Rebelo is defending well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rebelo is trying to get back to half guard. Gracie is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Rebelo knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Gracie working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gracie tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Gracie has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Gracie is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Rebelo knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gracie thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Rebelo is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Gracie goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Rebelo rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Gracie's guard! Nice work there by Rebelo! Rebelo is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rebelo is sitting in close to Gracie's body. Gracie has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Rebelo is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Rebelo is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Gracie.
