Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Aristides De Athayde Ii! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Will Waffle! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Frank Dennis and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Waffle closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming De Athayde Ii to the mat! De Athayde Ii manages to get full guard. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Waffle with a flurry of punches that miss. Waffle thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. De Athayde Ii is trying to control the position but Waffle postures up. De Athayde Ii looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Waffle works over De Athayde Ii with some ground and pound from guard. Waffle passes De Athayde Ii's right leg, so he's now in half guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Waffle working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. De Athayde Ii wants to improve his position but Waffle is controlling well.
De Athayde Ii avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Waffle. Waffle has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Waffle lands with a punch from half guard. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Waffle connects with a nice short shot to De Athayde Ii's temple. Waffle is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Waffle lands a couple of good shots and De Athayde Ii has given up his back, trying to escape the position! The referee is taking a good look at De Athayde Ii as he is on the wrong end of some big shots from Waffle!

That's one minute gone in the round. Waffle is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Waffle gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Waffle gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Waffle apologises and we restart here on the feet.
Waffle lands with an uppercut that bounces De Athayde Ii off the cage and back into range. Waffle with a jab. De Athayde Ii tries to close the distance and clinch but Waffle swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Waffle closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! De Athayde Ii wants to control but Waffle postures up. Waffle grinds an elbow into De Athayde Ii's temple. De Athayde Ii is breathing heavily. Waffle cracks De Athayde Ii with an elbow. That is naaassty. Waffle is working De Athayde Ii over with some ground and pound from side control. De Athayde Ii on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if De Athayde Ii tries to get out of the position. Waffle scoring with punches and elbows. Waffle working the head with strikes. De Athayde Ii gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Waffle breaks from De Athayde Ii's wrist control and lands an elbow.
That's two minutes gone in the round. De Athayde Ii is looking to improve his position but Waffle isn't that keen on the idea. Waffle scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish De Athayde Ii?
Waffle lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Waffle cracks De Athayde Ii with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Will Waffle! An out of breath Will Waffle thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
