PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rem Dos Santos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Steele (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Leandro Rodrigues and Paulo Santos.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dos Santos shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Dos Santos was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Steele is desperately trying to improve his position but Dos Santos has a good base and remains in mount.

Dos Santos wants to finish this one by submission but Steele is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Dos Santos.
Steele is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Dos Santos tries to control but Steele wriggling away.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Steele can't escape the position.
Dos Santos pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Steele is desperately trying to improve his position but Dos Santos has a good base and remains in mount.
Steele is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Dos Santos could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Dos Santos knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Steele on the ground.

Steele is in all sorts of trouble here.
Dos Santos wants to control the pace but Steele is squirming around nicely.
Steele sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Steele moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Steele looking for a sweep. Not yet Steele, not yet.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Steele looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Dos Santos wants to stand but Steele is controlling his posture from full guard.
Steele is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Dos Santos stands and throws Steele's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Dos Santos is breathing heavily.
Steele is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Dos Santos decides to stand back up. Dos Santos steps back and let's Steele get back to his feet.
Dos Santos is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Dos Santos misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Horrible takedown by Dos Santos or perhaps it was just good defense by Steele which made him look bad.
Steele gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Dos Santos counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Dos Santos.
Steele bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Dos Santos's guard.

Steele drops back looking for a leg! Dos Santos is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Dos Santos manages to kick Steele off! Steele jumps back into Dos Santos's guard.
Steele throws a big right hand that misses.
Steele forces his way into half guard.
Steele uses his free foot to push down on Dos Santos's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Dos Santos.

Steele jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Dos Santos manages to avoid the submission attempt.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Steele has hold of Dos Santos's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Dos Santos seems comfortable defending it but Steele has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Dos Santos is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Dos Santos is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Steele couldn't care less - he's delighted!
