Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kato Munechika (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Conrad Kirkland (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Munechika comes to the cage accompanied by Requiem for a Dream. Conrad Kirkland will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kato Munechika!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Conrad Kirkland!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Cecil Peabody and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Munechika misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Munechika jabs Kirkland to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Munechika shoots for a double leg takedown but Kirkland sprawls well. He's pushed Munechika's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Munechika shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Kirkland sprawls well. Kirkland wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Munechika gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kato Munechika. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Kirkland clinches with his opponent.
Munechika is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Kirkland is defending well for now.

Kirkland is trying to pull guard but Munechika turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Munechika tries to throw a body punch but Kirkland avoids it by throwing Munechika back against the cage.

Kirkland is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

A looping hook to the body misses from Munechika. Kirkland does a little dance to reset his feet.

Munechika shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Kirkland napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Kirkland takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Munechika moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Kirkland can't do much from the bottom here.
Munechika wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kirkland keeps working.
Kirkland tries to buck Munechika off but Munechika is having none of it.
Munechika is trying to ground and pound but Kirkland uses the momentary lack of control by Munechika to regain half guard.

Kirkland wants to control but Munechika is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Kirkland is not content to let Munechika control the position.
Kirkland keeps control of the position for the meantime.
Munechika wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kirkland keeps working.

Munechika is just content to waste time from the top position. Kirkland takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Kirkland is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Munechika with a flurry of punches that miss.
Munechika throws a strike but Kirkland rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Munechika might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Munechika is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Kirkland decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Munechika pushes Kirkland off looking to stand but Kirkland dives back in and keeps control.

Munechika wants to hit a switch here but Kirkland passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Munechika there!
Munechika is looking to improve his position but Kirkland isn't that keen on the idea.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
