Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Eero Niinimaa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Christmas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Christmas has chosen Enea Vollare Mezzo as his entrance music. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that John Christmas was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, John Christmas! The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Marco Blurström and Roosa Järviläinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Niinimaa throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Niinimaa throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Christmas walks into a jab. Niinimaa lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Niinimaa misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Christmas.
Christmas takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Niinimaa throws an off balance right hand
and Christmas decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Niinimaa's guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Niinimaa wants to stand and escape but Christmas is having none of it. Niinimaa knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Christmas on the ground. Christmas is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Christmas trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Niinimaa is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Christmas is controlling him. Niinimaa is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Niinimaa keeping full guard, as Christmas tries to pass. Christmas thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Christmas trying to control but Niinimaa is working from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Niinimaa working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Christmas. Christmas throws a big right hand that misses. Niinimaa has Christmas pulled in close to control his posture. Niinimaa is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Christmas is controlling him. Christmas pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Niinimaa is keeping the position for now. Christmas prevents Niinimaa from getting back to his feet. Christmas is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Niinimaa is trying to keep Christmas in close.
Niinimaa preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Christmas postures up in Niinimaa's guard and throws a big left but Niinimaa blocks it. Niinimaa has Christmas pulled in close to control his posture.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Eero Niinimaa wasn't doing enough on the ground. Niinimaa scores with a hook to the body. Christmas takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Niinimaa catches Christmas with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Nice cross by Christmas. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Niinimaa throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Jab from Niinimaa. Niinimaa looks to score with a jab to the body but Christmas is just out of range. Niinimaa lands a body shot.

and Christmas counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Niinimaa! Christmas lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Christmas in side control, throwing shots but Niinimaa defends. Niinimaa tries to buck Christmas off but Christmas is having none of it. Christmas wants to lay and pray for a moment but Niinimaa keeps working. Christmas working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Niinimaa is trying to control Christmas's posture but Christmas avoids it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Christmas has hold of Niinimaa's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Niinimaa tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Christmas cranks the arm and Niinimaa screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Niinimaa, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). John Christmas! After winning the bout, John Christmas thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
