Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
14 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Satoshi Kajiwara! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
13 - 30 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jun Akiyama! The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Yukihiro Shimada and Tatsuya Matsuyama.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kajiwara misses with a head kick.
Akiyama circles away from the clinch attempt.
Kajiwara drives through and clinches with Akiyama against the cage.
Akiyama tries to pull guard but Kajiwara holds him up against the cage and eventually Akiyama drops back down to his feet.

Kajiwara shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Kajiwara throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Kajiwara tries to clinch but Akiyama is having none of it. Akiyama circles away from the clinch attempt.

Kajiwara pushes Akiyama away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Akiyama gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Akiyama trying to control the action but Kajiwara is working from the bottom. Akiyama really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kajiwara. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Akiyama lands an elbow. Akiyama is looking to take a break and control but Kajiwara is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Kajiwara wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Kajiwara wants to control but Akiyama postures up. Akiyama trying to control the position but Kajiwara is working away. Kajiwara is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Akiyama wants to control but Kajiwara is keeping him busy. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Akiyama wants to pass to mount but Kajiwara is defending the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Kajiwara is trying to stand.
Akiyama wants to take a breather but Kajiwara is having none of it. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Kajiwara pushes Akiyama off looking to stand but Akiyama dives back in and keeps control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Satoshi Kajiwara will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Kajiwara shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Kajiwara was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Kajiwara stands up and beckons Akiyama to his feet. Kajiwara changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Akiyama tries to avoid it but Kajiwara manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Akiyama to the ground. Akiyama escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Kajiwara tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kajiwara tries to close the distance and clinch up but Akiyama swats him away and circles back towards the center. Kajiwara shoots in for a double leg but Akiyama sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Kajiwara tries to bum rush Akiyama with a series of wild strikes but Akiyama uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Akiyama blocks the body kick.
Kajiwara throws a lazy head kick and Akiyama counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Akiyama tries to stand but can't do so whilst Kajiwara controls his leg. Akiyama trying to control from half guard but Kajiwara is working away. Kajiwara trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Kajiwara wants to stand and escape but Akiyama is having none of it. Kajiwara pulls Akiyama in close to prevent any damage. Jun Akiyama has got the better of the ground game so far. Akiyama got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kajiwara has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Akiyama has managed to get both his arms back between Kajiwara's legs - danger averted. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Akiyama is looking to control Kajiwara's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Akiyama avoid being mounted? Akiyama is looking for a sweep. Kajiwara is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Kajiwara trying to mount his opponent but Akiyama defends it. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Kajiwara doesn't succeed with the takedown and Akiyama counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kajiwara fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Kajiwara fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Akiyama avoids it really well and circles away. Kajiwara misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Kajiwara throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
A momentary lapse in concentration from Kajiwara enables Akiyama to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Kajiwara manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Akiyama won't allow Kajiwara to sweep him here. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Kajiwara escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Akiyama gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Akiyama passes Kajiwara's left leg - he's now in half guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Satoshi Kajiwara showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Kajiwara, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
