Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, John Douglas! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Alex Hadjiev! The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Thiago Cunha and Leandro Rodrigues.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hadjiev gets the takedown into side control. Hadjiev scoring with punches and elbows. Hadjiev has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Douglas is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Hadjiev throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Hadjiev landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Hadjiev wants to work for an arm triangle but Douglas is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Hadjiev trying to control the action but Douglas is working from the bottom. Douglas moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Douglas looking for a sweep. Not yet Douglas, not yet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Douglas trying to keep a closed guard but Hadjiev is proving a slippery customer.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Douglas is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Hadjiev landing some decent shots from guard. Douglas wants to improve his position but instead Hadjiev has moved into half guard.
The fighters are battling for position here. Douglas manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Douglas looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Douglas has a hand on Hadjiev's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Hadjiev takes advantage of the position though and mounts him! Douglas is looking to get to half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hadjiev looking to control but Douglas is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Hadjiev working Douglas over with strikes here. Hadjiev unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Douglas wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Hadjiev celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!
