Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Antonio Cesaro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tobby Mcdall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Antonio Cesaro! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tobby Mcdall! The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Yukihiro Shimada.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mcdall tries a head kick but it misses.
Cesaro manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Mcdall on his heels. He'll look to pass Mcdall's guard now, I'm sure. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Cesaro wants to control from the top but Mcdall keeps moving. Cesaro might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Cesaro showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Cesaro loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Cesaro throws a big elbow that misses. Mcdall keeping full guard, as Cesaro tries to pass. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Mcdall working a defensive guard here.
Cesaro postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Cesaro accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Cesaro looking to sit in guard and control but Mcdall gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Cesaro managing to control the position. Cesaro knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Mcdall on the ground.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cesaro tries to land a sweep but no joy. Mcdall content to stall in guard here. Mcdall looking to pass the guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Cesaro pulls Mcdall in close to prevent any damage.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Tobby Mcdall wasn't active enough on the ground. Cesaro looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Mcdall swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Cesaro blocks a head kick by Mcdall.
Mcdall darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Mcdall is trying to control the action in half guard but Cesaro is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cesaro moves into full guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Cesaro is on top in guard.
Cesaro throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Cesaro working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Cesaro keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Mcdall's head. Cesaro with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Cesaro's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Mcdall trying to control the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Cesaro scoring with some ground and pound. Cesaro is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Mcdall controls Cesaro momentarily but Cesaro frees himself. Cesaro is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Cesaro trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Mcdall is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Mcdall looks winded! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Cesaro content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Cesaro has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Cesaro landing with the ground and pound.
Mcdall is rocked! Cesaro scoring with some ground and pound. Mcdall is still in real trouble! Can Cesaro finish him? Cesaro arches his back and unloads with a massive left and a right! Mcdall's eyes roll back into his head, he's out cold! The ref dives in to stop the fight - wow, they were hard shots!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Antonio Cesaro! Antonio Cesaro decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
