Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Carolus Rex (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Clay Eastwood (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Clay Eastwood!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Steve Montenegro and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rex fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Rex shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Eastwood as he avoids it easily.
Rex shoots in for a double leg but Eastwood sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Carolus Rex. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Rex dives in and grabs Eastwood's left leg, looking for a takedown. Eastwood pushes down on Rex's head and hops out.
Rex shoots in for a takedown but Eastwood shows good takedown defense.
Eastwood stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Eastwood wants it to stay on the feet.
Rex fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Rex shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Eastwood napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Eastwood leaves Rex with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Rex decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Eastwood wants to control but Rex is keeping busy.

Eastwood is looking to control Rex's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Eastwood avoid being mounted?
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Clay Eastwood wasn't active enough on the ground.
Eastwood pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Rex back to the cage. Eastwood follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

Rex content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Carolus Rex has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
An inside leg kick lands from Eastwood.
Rex shoots in and drives through. Eastwood sprawls well.
Eastwood displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Rex.
Rex throws a left and a right that both miss

and Eastwood counters with a shoot takedown. Rex fights it but they end up in guard.
Rex wants to sweep but no luck.
Eastwood stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rex swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Rex is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Eastwood trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Eastwood is still trying to improve position.
Rex keeping moving, preventing Eastwood from controlling successfully.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Clay Eastwood.
Rex shoots in but no luck this time.
Rex is trying hard to land a takedown here. Eastwood sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Rex tries to score a power double leg takedown but Eastwood sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Rex somewhat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Carolus Rex will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Eastwood thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Rex if he has to take too many more of those.
Carolus Rex seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Clay Eastwood showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Eastwood wants to control but Rex is keeping him busy.

Rex shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Rex shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Eastwood sprawls well. Eastwood wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Rex gets slowly back to his feet.
Rex changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Eastwood tries to avoid it but Rex manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Eastwood to the ground. Eastwood escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Eastwood darts in and out, connecting with a jab.

Rex closes this distance looking for a takedown but Eastwood circles away.

Eastwood stalks Rex and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Rex's face. Rex staggers backwards, shaken.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Eastwood trying to control but Rex is working from the bottom.

Eastwood wants to control from the top but Rex keeps moving.
Eastwood stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rex swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Clay Eastwood was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Rex shoots in and drives through. Eastwood sprawls well.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Rex.
Rex fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Eastwood avoids it really well and circles away.

Rex will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Eastwood seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Clay Eastwood comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Eastwood has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
