The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Augustus clinches up with Pope and pushes him back against the cage.
Augustus is trying to drag Pope to the mat but Pope just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Pope misses with a punch on the inside.
Pope creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Augustus's defenses.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Pope creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Pope lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Augustus is trying to break the clinch but Pope is controlling him.

That was a close round but I would say that Dean Pope will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Pope bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Augustus is not content to let Pope control the position.
You can see the frustration on Augustus's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Dean Pope.
