Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jack Fall! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
19 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mateus Gracie! The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, James Ackerman and Steven Brown.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gracie walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Fall checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side. Mateus Gracie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Fall uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Gracie. Nice cross by Gracie. Fall shoots in but no luck this time. Gracie fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Fall. Fall takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Gracie throws an overhand right that lands on Fall's shoulder, as Fall tries to avoid the shot. Fall has been working on his boxing with his coaches at The Jungle Elite MMA in the buildup to the fight. Gracie throws a jab when Fall was well out of range. Gracie throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Gracie scores with a push kick. Gracie throws a quick inside leg kick. Gracie connects with a leg kick. Fall looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Fall fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Gracie looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fall takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Fall looks for a takedown but Gracie sprawls well. Gracie lets loose with a powerful body kick. Fall will feel that in the morning. Gracie fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Fall. Gracie digs a good body shot into Fall's ribs. Gracie shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Gracie showed some decent athleticism there. Fall keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. This has been an exciting period of action! Fall tries to roll over but Gracie keeps him under control. Gracie is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gracie content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Gracie is keen to just control but Fall is a slippery customer. Fall is trying to get back to full guard. Fall wants to control but Gracie is keeping busy and won't allow it. Gracie is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Fall! Fall working to try and regain half guard.
Fall is working hard here to advance position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gracie with good strikes from the mount here! Gracie looking to control but Fall is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Gracie is landing with some decent strikes but Fall is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Fall regains half guard.

Fall taking some punishment here, with Gracie in his half guard. Fall wants to get back to full guard. Gracie passes to full mount! Gracie can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Fall is looking to escape. Fall gets back to half guard. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Gracie looking to control but Fall is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Fall wants to control but Gracie is having none of it. Gracie tries to control but Fall wriggling away. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Gracie tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Fall wants to hold on but Gracie pushes him away. Gracie tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mateus Gracie dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Fall gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Gracie. Gracie scores with a nice head shot. Fall shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Gracie is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Gracie looking for submissions off his back. Gracie is trying to get back to full guard. Fall wants to take a breather but Gracie is having none of it. Gracie felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fall is looking to stall here but Gracie recovers full guard. Fall postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Gracie is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Fall, into his guard. Fall looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Gracie passes into side control.
Gracie is looking to take a break and control but Fall is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Fall is working to avoid the ground and pound but Gracie connects with a decent elbow. Fall is looking for a sweep. Mateus Gracie has got the better of the ground game so far.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Fall seems a little lost for a moment, as Gracie dominates the positioning. Fall is looking for a sweep. Gracie cracks Fall with an elbow. That is naaassty. Fall is looking for a sweep. This has been an exciting period of action! Gracie creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Gracie lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Fall is trying to get back to half guard. Gracie advances nicely into full mount. Fall throwing hammer fists to the chest of Gracie. What's that going to do exactly? Gracie with the ground and pound from mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Fall is squirming around, avoiding Gracie's attempts to control the action. Fall wants to control but Gracie is having none of it. Gracie controlling his opponent. Gracie is in the full mount, landing strikes. Fall is looking to improve his position but Gracie isn't that keen on the idea. Gracie fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Mateus Gracie showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!
Fall chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Gracie can pounce on him.
Fall fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Gracie sprawls well initially but Fall persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Fall throwing shots but Gracie is blocking nicely. Gracie works his way to full guard. Good work. Fall avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Gracie wants to sweep here but Fall controlling him for the moment. Gracie is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Fall with a flurry of punches that miss. Gracie is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Fall showing good wrestling skills to control the position.

Gracie is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Gracie prevents Fall from improving his position. Fall is refusing to be controlled, as Gracie sits in half guard. Fall looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Fall wants to get back to full guard. Fall slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Fall is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Gracie is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Gracie with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Gracie looks to land a body kick but Fall moved away. Fall has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Fall there as he acknowledges the shot. Gracie scores with a leg kick.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A nice inside leg kick there by Gracie. That's going to slow Fall down. Gracie pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Mateus Gracie seems to be getting the better of the standup. Gracie misses with an uppercut
and Fall counters with a lovely straight right hand! Fall has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Gracie. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Gracie tries to score with a low kick but Fall moves his leg out of the way. Gracie shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Fall defends it nicely. Mateus Gracie is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Gracie takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Gracie connects with an inside leg kick. Jack Fall has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Gracie jabs Fall right on the nose. Fall blinks but takes it well.
And that's the end of the fight! Mateus Gracie comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Gracie has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
