The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Edson Gomes and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McGuire thuds a left hand into Trindade's body.
McGuire clinches up against the cage.
McGuire gets a trip takedown into half guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Trindade is trying to maintain the position but McGuire is very close to passing his half guard.
Trindade looking for submissions off his back.
McGuire takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
McGuire is trying to control the action in half guard but Trindade is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Trindade is looking to control McGuire's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Trindade avoid being mounted?

McGuire missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
McGuire seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McGuire tries to pass to full mount but Trindade defends it.
McGuire is taking a breather. Trindade says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Trindade wants to control but McGuire is keeping busy.
McGuire takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
McGuire lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

McGuire working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Trindade wants to control but McGuire is having none of it.

Trindade is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, McGuire cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Trindade tries to reverse the position but McGuire maintains control.
Trindade tries to hold on but McGuire pushes him away.
A nice elbow there by McGuire.
McGuire lands with some strikes.
Trindade is in a horrible position here. McGuire smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
McGuire loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Trindade scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from McGuire land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. McGuire stands and salutes the crowd.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Patrick McGuire!
