Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jon Grey! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
30 - 27 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mark Dexter! The judges for this bout are William Peck, Alec Ball and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dexter swinging wildly here.
Dexter looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Grey shoots for a double leg takedown but Dexter sprawls well. He's pushed Grey's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Grey has a takedown stuffed. Grey blocks a leg kick. Grey avoids a kick to the body.
Dexter keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jon Grey. That's going to take a lot out of him. Grey shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Dexter as he avoids it easily. Grey moves out of range of the strikes. Dexter tries to land a leg kick but Grey saw it coming and moves away.
Dexter decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Grey is looking for a sweep. Dexter is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Grey looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Grey manages to get to full guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
That's one minute gone in the round. Grey is looking for a triangle but Dexter pushes his legs off easily.
Dexter wants to control from the top but Grey keeps moving. Dexter preventing the sweep. Grey is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Dexter works his way back into a safe position though. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Dexter thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Dexter avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Grey is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Dexter has his hands clasped together but Grey extends and breaks Dexter's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Grey.
