Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Katsuyori Shibata!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Tatsuya Matsuyama.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Negan shoots in and gets a takedown into Shibata's guard.
Negan is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Lock and Roll Grappling Gym that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Shibata is looking to stand up but Negan isn't so interested in that idea.
Shibata looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Negan has picked Shibata up and slammed him! Shibata can't keep hold of the triangle and Negan manages to pass to side control!
Shibata wants to get back to his feet but Negan drags him back down.
Negan wants to lay and pray for a moment but Shibata keeps working.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Shibata prevents Negan from improving position.
Negan has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Negan working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Negan is looking to take a break and control but Shibata is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Negan tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Negan has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Shibata takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Shibata is trying to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Negan lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Shibata down.
Negan is trying to get an arm triangle but Shibata is defending well.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Negan passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Shibata!
Shibata tries to reverse the position but Negan maintains control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Negan landing punches.
Shibata is rocked!
Shibata keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Shibata is still in real trouble! Can Negan finish him?
Negan postures up and throws a big right hand. BOOM! Right on the button! Shibata is out cold - huge knockout for Negan!

Philip Negan decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
