Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jan Nowak! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
21 - 13 - 0, fighting out of New York, David Laroux! The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Sam Margolis and James Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nowak scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Laroux manages to get to full guard.
Laroux manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Nowak manages to get himself to full guard.
Nowak wants to stand and escape but Laroux is having none of it. Nowak avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Laroux throwing strikes but missing. Laroux has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Laroux throws a big right hand that misses. Laroux postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Nowak is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Laroux, into his guard. Laroux looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nowak with a flurry of punches that miss. Laroux had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Nowak defends it easily. Nowak working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Laroux's head. Laroux looking for a guillotine here but Nowak defends easily.
Laroux looking for a triangle here. Nowak is fighting it but it looks tight! Laroux pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Nowak is tapping out - this one is all over!
