Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ducky Gonquer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Serra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Matt Serra!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Alyssa Summers and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gonquer throws a push kick but Serra slaps the foot to one side.
Gonquer throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Gonquer fails to land the takedown.
Gonquer avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Serra bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Gonquer tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Serra wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Gonquer wants to control but Serra postures up.
Gonquer is looking for a sweep.

Serra is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Gonquer has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Gonquer is looking to improve his position but Serra isn't that keen on the idea.
Serra is landing with some decent strikes but Gonquer is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Gonquer closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Gonquer is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Gonquer will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Gonquer is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Serra is trying to maintain the position but Gonquer is very close to passing his half guard.

Serra closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Serra lands in his opponent's guard.

A close second round but Matt Serra will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Serra shoots for a double leg takedown but Gonquer sprawls well. He's pushed Serra's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Gonquer misses with a double jab.
Gonquer throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Serra tries for a takedown but Gonquer sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Gonquer drops back looking for a leg! Serra is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Serra manages to kick Gonquer off! Gonquer jumps back into Serra's guard.

Serra manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Gonquer manages to get himself to full guard.

Serra drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Gonquer dives on top into guard.

Gonquer thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Serra is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Gonquer off and has taken his back!
