The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from GoldenGloves is defended easily by Lopes.
GoldenGloves keeps the fight on the outside.
No luck with that takedown attempt from GoldenGloves.

GoldenGloves has Lopes up against the cage in a clinch.

Lopes breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Lopes leaves GoldenGloves with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

GoldenGloves throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Lopes tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. GoldenGloves is in Lopes's guard.

Lopes manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. GoldenGloves manages to get himself to full guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if GoldenGloves can do anything to dispel that myth.

GoldenGloves has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Lopes is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for GoldenGloves.
