PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Caleb Foster (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steffan Bonnar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Foster comes into the arena with Lynyrd Skynrd - Sweet Home Alabama blaring out of the sound system. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Foster has taken the fight to the clinch.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Foster creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Foster just misses with a elbow thrown towards Bonnar's brow.
Still in the clinch, Foster scores with a nice short uppercut.
Foster throws a punch but it's blocked by Bonnar.
Bonnar gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Foster.
Foster is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Foster lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Bonnar backwards.

Foster escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

and Foster counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Foster.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Foster throwing strikes but missing.
Foster throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Bonnar works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Foster won't allow Bonnar to sweep him here.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Foster accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Bonnar is looking to stand up but Foster isn't so interested in that idea.

Bonnar is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Foster lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

Bonnar breaks the clinch.

Bonnar gets tackled into the cage by Foster. Foster maintains the clinch.

Foster breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Foster tries to close the distance and clinch but Bonnar swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Bonnar looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

Foster has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Bonnar off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Foster clinches with his opponent.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Bonnar tries to break free but Foster pushes him back against the cage.

Foster escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Foster tries to clinch up.
Bonnar tries to score a power double leg takedown but Foster sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Bonnar somewhat.

Foster scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Foster landing strikes.
Bonnar is trying to improve his position.
Foster creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

Foster looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Foster lands a decent elbow from side control.
Foster is working Bonnar over with some ground and pound from side control.
Foster looks up at the clock and then as Bonnar takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Foster smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Bonnar takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Foster goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Bonnar has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Foster but great work by Bonnar.
Foster tries to escape but Bonnar is in control.
Bonnar looks up at the clock and then as Foster takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Bonnar smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Foster bucks up and tries to throw Bonnar off but instead Bonnar has got his back!
Bonnar looking to soften up his opponent with punches.
Foster wants to get back to his feet.

Bonnar throwing sloppy strikes.
Foster looking to stop the rear naked choke attempt by controlling the hands.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Foster grimaces as he takes a shot to the body.
Foster is covering up but some of the strikes from Bonnar are getting through and doing damage.
Foster has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Bonnar has got one arm under Foster's chin. This could be trouble... Foster trying to control the other hand but Bonnar gets it free and sqeezes tight - just a matter of time now! Yep, Foster has tapped out! The fight is over!
