Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Robert Sapp!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Stanley Stankus!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Joseph Jones and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sapp shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Sapp sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Stankus defending well though.
Sapp winds up and cracks Stankus with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Sapp missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Stankus should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Sapp working over Stankus with some ground and pound. Stankus looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sapp wants to pass to mount but Stankus is defending the position.
Stankus trying to hold on to Sapp's head to control him but Sapp postures up.
Stankus is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Sapp scores with a couple of nice shots.
Sapp throwing shots but Stankus is blocking nicely.
Stankus wants to improve his position but Sapp is controlling well.
Sapp has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Sapp moves nicely into side control.
Sapp is trying to ground and pound but Stankus uses the momentary lack of control by Sapp to regain half guard.
Sapp lands with a punch from half guard.
Sapp thows a huge punch but Stankus dodges it nicely.
Stankus has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Sapp is working away from the top position though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Stankus is looking to improve his position.

Sapp stands up from half guard.

Stankus ducks under a wild hook from Sapp.
Sapp tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Stankus paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Stankus connects with a looping right hand.

Sapp closes the distance and clinches.
Sapp stops a takedown attempt from Stankus.

Sapp gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Sapp is breathing heavily.
Sapp throwing shots but Stankus is blocking nicely.

Sapp gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Stankus scores with a jab.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!

Stankus takes the fight into the clinch.
Stankus tries for a takedown but Sapp manages to get underhooks.
Sapp prevents Stankus from breaking the clinch.
Stankus is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Sapp is keeping busy.

Stankus manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Sapp's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Sapp loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Stankus controls Sapp momentarily but Sapp frees himself.
Stankus has a closed guard, preventing Sapp from standing up.
Sapp postures up.
Stankus utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Sapp throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Stankus works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Sapp moves in looking to clinch but Stankus pushes him off.

Sapp shoots in for a takedown and gets it, with a heavy slam. That will score well with the judges.


Stankus is rocked!
Sapp scoring with some ground and pound.
Stankus is still in real trouble! Can Sapp finish him?

Sapp in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Sapp gets to his feet. Stankus looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Sapp is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Stankus seems to have recovered his senses.
Sapp doesn't manage to clinch there - Stankus circles away.
Stankus bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Stankus shoots in and drives through. Sapp sprawls well.
Robert Sapp has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Stanley Stankus.
Whack! Stankus lands a heavy head kick that drops Sapp. The ref tackles Stankus to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Sapp was done.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Head Kick). Stanley Stankus!
