Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Zeus Jupiter! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Brian McCarthy! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, William Peck and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McCarthy moves forwards but Jupiter connects with a nice, crisp jab. McCarthy looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Jupiter tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. McCarthy manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Jupiter misses with the combination.
Jupiter throws a lazy body kick and McCarthy counters with a big head kick but Jupiter shrugs it off. Jupiter tries to bum rush McCarthy with a series of wild strikes but McCarthy uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Jupiter wants to clinch up but McCarthy keeps it at a distance. McCarthy throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Jupiter was covering up waiting for the punch and McCarthy finishes the takedown easily into guard. McCarthy got a little sloppy there for a moment and Jupiter has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, McCarthy has managed to get both his arms back between Jupiter's legs - danger averted. Jupiter is looking for a triangle but McCarthy pushes his legs off easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. McCarthy chips away with some ground and pound. McCarthy is looking to stand up but Jupiter won't let him. Jupiter had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. McCarthy defends it easily. Jupiter is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jupiter is really struggling to control McCarthy but he's trying to hold on to the position. Jupiter is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. McCarthy avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Zeus Jupiter dominated that round. That's time! Jupiter's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Jupiter is looking to score with low kicks. Jupiter throws a nice looking combination but McCarthy bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Jupiter lands a jab-cross combination. Zeus Jupiter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. McCarthy avoids a punch combination nicely.

McCarthy is breathing heavily. Jupiter swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jupiter cracks McCarthy with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. McCarthy shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Jupiter looking for submissions off his back. Jupiter wants to get back to full guard but McCarthy has passed into side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jupiter tries to get back to half guard but can't. Jupiter is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but McCarthy has just dragged him back down to the mat. Jupiter tries to bench press McCarthy off him but McCarthy keeps the position. Jupiter sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McCarthy seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Jupiter actively working from the bottom here. Jupiter is working on a guillotine. He's managed to get to full guard and he's really squeezing tight! McCarthy is tapping! Great win for Jupiter!
