Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jon Bechard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Hopton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Daniel Bishop and Donald Grub.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bechard shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Hopton but Hopton pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Nice takedown defense from Bechard. No joy for Hopton on that attempt.

and Hopton holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Bechard's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Hopton tries to close the distance and clinch up but Bechard swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Bechard looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Hopton keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
Hopton is pressing down on Bechard's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Hopton manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Bechard tries to lock up and control but Hopton gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Bechard is squirming around, avoiding Hopton's attempts to control the action.
Hopton goes for an armbar but Bechard turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Bechard.
Bechard has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Hopton is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
OK we're going to have a standup here. John Hopton hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Bechard scores with a jab to the body.
Bechard moves into range and clinches up with Hopton.
Hopton trying to control the position but instead, Bechard has worked for underhooks and has pushed Hopton into the cage.

Bechard with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Hopton tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Hopton tries to land knees in the clinch but Bechard avoids the damage to the body.

Hopton goes for a takedown attempt but Bechard pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Hopton dives in and grabs Bechard's left leg, looking for a takedown. Bechard pushes down on Hopton's head and hops out.
Jon Bechard has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Hopton.
Hopton tries to close the distance and clinch but Bechard swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Bechard.
Bechard has a takedown stuffed.
Bechard shoots in and drives through. Hopton sprawls well.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hopton throws a series of punches but Bechard moves out of range.
A looping hook to the body misses from Bechard. Hopton does a little dance to reset his feet.
Hopton shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Bechard napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Bechard is breathing heavily.
Bechard is trying to improve his position.
Hopton advances to full mount.
Bechard takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Bechard throws a strike from the bottom but Hopton uses the opportunity to take his back.
Hopton has managed to slip his arm under Bechard's chin. This could be all over... yep, Bechard is tapping out! Submission win for Hopton.
