Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Nsia Ihejirika (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Scuba Steve (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Scuba Steve has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Nsia Ihejirika!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Scuba Steve!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Ryoma Takatsuka and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ihejirika throws a sloppy head kick and Steve moves out of range easily.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Ihejirika!
Ihejirika attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Steve fails with a takedown attempt.

Steve closes the distance and pushes Ihejirika back into the cage.
Ihejirika misses with a knee strike.
Ihejirika is breathing heavily.
Steve goes for a takedown attempt but Ihejirika pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Ihejirika tries for a takedown but Steve sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Steve lands a big head kick that sends Ihejirika tumbling to the mat! Steve takes a step backwards and waves Ihejirika back to his feet - he wants the finish!


Ihejirika is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Steve fails with a takedown attempt.
Oh Ihejirika is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Nsia Ihejirika has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Scuba Steve.

Steve clinches with his opponent.
Steve tries for a takedown. No joy.
Ihejirika using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Steve has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Steve is looking to take this one to the mat.
Steve is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Ihejirika is defending well.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Steve tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Ihejirika's elbow.
Ihejirika is trying to force a seperation but Steve has the dominant position.
Steve is looking to break free of the clinch but Ihejirika has double underhooks.
Steve jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Ihejirika walks away with a smile on his face. Steve gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Steve takes the fight into the clinch.
Steve tries to pull guard but Ihejirika forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Steve manages to pull guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Steve has a closed guard, preventing Ihejirika from standing up.
Steve controls Ihejirika momentarily but Ihejirika frees himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Steve looking for a sweep. Not yet Steve, not yet.
Ihejirika stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Steve swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Ihejirika seems to have got his legs back now.
Ihejirika in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Ihejirika postures up in Steve's guard and throws a big left but Steve blocks it.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Steve is on top in guard.
Ihejirika looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ihejirika wants to stand but Steve is controlling the position.
Steve looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Scuba Steve.
Steve fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ihejirika fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Steve has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
An inside leg kick lands from Ihejirika.

Ihejirika closes the distance and clinches.
Ihejirika lands an elbow that stopped Steve in his tracks for a moment.
Come on Ihejirika - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Steve looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Steve wants a takedown.

Ihejirika breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Steve clinches.
Steve tries for a takedown but Ihejirika manages to get underhooks.
Ihejirika taking a breather.

Ihejirika breaks from the clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Steve shoots in looking for a takedown but Ihejirika manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Steve's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Ihejirika forces Steve back against the cage and clinches.
Ihejirika is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Steve is trying to force a seperation but Ihejirika has the dominant position.
Steve stops a takedown attempt from Ihejirika.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Ihejirika landing knees to the head.
Ihejirika fails to pull guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Ihejirika's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Steve tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Scuba Steve dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Ihejirika ducks under a wild hook from Steve.
No joy there for Steve, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Ihejirika looks to land a combination but Steve avoids it well.
Ihejirika fails with a takedown attempt.

Steve manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Ihejirika on his heels. He'll look to pass Ihejirika's guard now, I'm sure.
Steve engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Ihejirika keeping moving, preventing Steve from controlling successfully.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Steve drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Steve jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Steve tries to stand but Ihejirika is controlling from the bottom.
Steve with a flurry of punches that miss.
Ihejirika utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ihejirika keeping moving, preventing Steve from controlling successfully.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Scuba Steve has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Ihejirika tries to clinch there but Steve circles away.
Steve fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Ihejirika tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Nsia Ihejirika seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ihejirika tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Steve will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Steve shoots for a double leg takedown but Ihejirika sprawls well. He's pushed Steve's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Nsia Ihejirika has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Scuba Steve.
Steve has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Ihejirika.

Ihejirika drives through with a takedown into Steve's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Ihejirika stands up and waves to Steve to follow him.
Ihejirika throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Steve.

Ihejirika throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Steve.
Ihejirika looks to land a combination. Steve sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Steve gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Ihejirika misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Steve.
Steve misses with a hook from the clinch.

Ihejirika manages to break the clinch.
Some wild striking there from Ihejirika.
Nice sprawl there from Ihejirika as Steve shoots in.
A nice leg kick lands there from Ihejirika.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Ihejirika fails with an attempt to clinch.
Ihejirika wants to clinch up but Steve keeps it at a distance.

Steve changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Ihejirika looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Ihejirika struggling a bit here.
Steve in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Steve working away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Scuba Steve will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Ihejirika shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Steve is trying to control the position but Ihejirika postures up.
Ihejirika wants to stand but Steve has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Ihejirika throws a big elbow that misses.

Steve has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Ihejirika should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Steve has tightened it up now! Ihejirika should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:57 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Scuba Steve!
