PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mike Boxer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rodrick Skiter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Boxer comes into the arena with Hammerfall - Last Man Standing blaring out of the sound system. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mike Boxer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rodrick Skiter!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Alexandre Firmino and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boxer swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Boxer slips under a jab from Skiter.
Boxer tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Skiter was well out of range. Poor timing from Boxer.
Skiter's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Boxer connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Skiter scrambles back to his feet.
Boxer stuns Skiter with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Skiter rushes Boxer and pushes him back against the ropes in a clinch.

Skiter manages to break the clinch.
Boxer throws a right hand that misses

and Skiter counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Skiter throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Skiter in particular looking to stall.
Skiter thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Boxer's head.
Skiter not doing much here.

Skiter tries to pass to full mount but Boxer defends it.
Skiter thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Skiter passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Boxer!
Skiter throwing strikes here but Boxer is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Boxer knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Skiter on the ground.

Skiter working the ground and pound effectively.
Boxer is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Boxer blocking the ground and pound.
Skiter looking to land elbow strikes but Boxer uses the position to regain half guard.
Skiter content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Skiter is looking to advance position but Boxer won't allow it.
Skiter looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Skiter not landing any meaningful shots this time.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Skiter is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Boxer!
Skiter looking to control and managing it successfully.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Skiter thowing shots but they're missing.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Skiter trying to control but Boxer is having none of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Skiter moves into range and connects with a jab.
Donk. Boxer catches Skiter right on the button with a cross.
Skiter takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Boxer closes the distance but Skiter moves to the side

so Skiter counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Skiter has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Skiter wants to pass the guard but Boxer is keeping the position.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Skiter passes Boxer's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Skiter not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Skiter working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Boxer's thigh. Boxer counters though and makes it back to full guard.

Skiter content to stall in guard here.
Skiter passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Skiter controls the position.
Skiter trying to control the position but Boxer is working away.
Skiter in side control, just content to control the action for now.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Skiter is looking to take a break and control but Boxer is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Rodrick Skiter hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Skiter looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Rodrick Skiter was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Boxer lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Skiter circles away quickly and effectively.
Skiter takes a swing at Boxer's ribcage but misses.
Skiter keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Skiter uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Boxer.

Skiter gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Skiter is working Boxer over against the ropes.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Skiter keeps control of Boxer as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Skiter tries to work over Boxer's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Skiter lands a right hand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rodrick Skiter showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


Skiter connects with a body shot that sends Boxer's belly button to the back.
Skiter has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Skiter there as he acknowledges the shot.

Boxer throws a looping overhand right but Skiter ducks down to avoid it.
Rodrick Skiter seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Skiter misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Boxer.
Skiter has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

and Skiter counters with a shoot takedown. Boxer fights it but they end up in guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Skiter slows the pace down.

Boxer dodges the ground and pound from Skiter.
Skiter moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Let's hope that Skiter has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Rodrick Skiter hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Skiter lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Boxer at a distance.
Boxer swings for the body but Skiter moves out of range.
Boxer misses with a lunging right hand
enabling Skiter to counter with a crisp jab.

and Skiter counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Boxer!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Skiter remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Skiter looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Boxer is avoiding damage well.

Boxer is being controlled here.
Skiter working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Skiter is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Boxer is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

Rodrick Skiter has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Boxer tries to move into range but Skiter moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.


Boxer is rocked!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Skiter flashes Boxer a smile before throwing a beast of a right hand, straight down the pipe. Boxer's eyes follow the hand right onto his nose, taking in it's full glory... and then darkness. Boxer crumples to the floor! He's out cold! Skiter punches the air and yells at the top of his lungs - yeeeeeeeeeeah!!!! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:50 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Rodrick Skiter!
Our winner, Rodrick Skiter, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
In defeat, Mike Boxer stepped up to the mic, saying 'famoous, talented boxer which want be world champion in mma.'.
