PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Devin Hurdle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Naseer Talal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Naseer Talal will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Devin Hurdle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Naseer Talal!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Chad Campbell and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Talal is looking to clinch but Hurdle is avoiding it.
Talal throws a sloppy head kick and Hurdle moves out of range easily.

Talal instigates a clinch.
Hurdle holding his opponent close, against the cage.
The crowd are getting pretty annoyed with Hurdle for his constant stalling in the clinch and are voicing their displeasure.
Talal has had enough of the clinch but Hurdle keeps him there for the moment.

Hurdle lands a takedown into guard.
Hurdle could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Hurdle sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Hurdle has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Hurdle has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Talal looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Hurdle puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hurdle thows a huge punch but Talal dodges it nicely.
Hurdle is thwarting Talal's attempts to control the position.
Hurdle is taking a breather. Talal says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Talal is not content to let Hurdle control the position.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Hurdle in particular looking to stall.

Devin Hurdle has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Hurdle blocks the body kick.
Talal tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Hurdle closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Talal's guard.

Talal is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Hurdle is aware though and is defending well.

Talal has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Hurdle should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Talal has tightened it up now! Hurdle should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:29 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Naseer Talal!
A relieved looking Naseer Talal thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
