Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Patrick Bateman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rupert Psmith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Patrick Bateman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rupert Psmith!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, William Peck and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Psmith will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Bateman misses with a two punch combination.
Bateman shoots in looking for a takedown. Psmith tries to sprawl out of it but Bateman keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Psmith manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Psmith thuds his shin into the meat of Bateman's side.
Bateman misses with a combination
and Psmith counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
A big left from Psmith misses.
Psmith slips a jab and a cross from Bateman.
Bateman throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Psmith tries to move into range but Bateman moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Psmith thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Bateman if he has to take too many more of those.
Bateman connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Psmith's hands.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Psmith, as that shot connected.


It looks like Patrick Bateman has been cut.
A solid body kick from Psmith.
Bateman is breathing heavily.

Bateman gets tackled into the cage by Psmith. Psmith maintains the clinch.

Psmith breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
A big left from Bateman misses.
Bateman just misses with a punch to the body.
Psmith connects with a body shot.
Bateman falls off balance throwing a combination
and Psmith counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Psmith scores with a jab to the head.

Bateman takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Psmith ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

Psmith works the jab nicely.
Psmith ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Bateman moves away.
Psmith throws a right and a left that both miss.
A good leg kick by Psmith.
Psmith swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Bateman lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Psmith at a distance.

Psmith drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Bateman takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Psmith creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

Psmith works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Bateman seems a little lost for a moment, as Psmith dominates the positioning.
Bateman wants to control but Psmith postures up.
Psmith controls the position.
Bateman manages to work his way to half guard, despite Psmith's best efforts.
Psmith lands strikes from half guard.
Bateman wants to get back to full guard but Psmith has passed into side control.
Psmith lands a few punches from side control.

Psmith just content to control the position.
Bateman is looking to reverse the position.
Psmith slows the pace down.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rupert Psmith dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Patrick Bateman's cut.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Bateman misses with a few strikes there.
Psmith shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Bateman as he jumps to the side.

Psmith moves into the clinch.
Psmith's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Psmith keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Bateman's efforts to push away.

Psmith escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Bateman lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Bateman misses with a jab, cross combination.
A chopping leg kick lands by Psmith.
Patrick Bateman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Bateman shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Bateman scores with a crisp jab that stopped Psmith in his tracks.
Bateman ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Psmith is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Bateman rather than just go for the knockout.
Bateman takes a swing at Psmith's ribcage but misses.

Psmith lands a nice hook to Bateman's body. Bateman takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Bateman tries to score with a low kick but Psmith moves his leg out of the way.
Bateman gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
A lazy left from Psmith finds it's target.
Psmith lands a right hook to the body.
Psmith scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Psmith cracks Bateman with a good jab.
Bateman looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Psmith swings for the body but Bateman moves out of range.

Psmith lands a nice hook to Bateman's body. Bateman takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Psmith lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Psmith has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Bateman tries for a takedown but Psmith manages to get underhooks.
Psmith is pushing Bateman up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Psmith changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Bateman fights it off and pushes away nicely.

The fighters circle momentarily. Psmith darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Bateman misses with a double jab
and Psmith makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Psmith cracks a nice hook into Bateman's ribs.

Psmith scores with a hook to the body. Bateman takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Psmith lands a leg kick that knocks Bateman off balance momentarily.

Psmith clinches up with Bateman and pushes him back against the cage.

Psmith pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Psmith lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Bateman backs up against the cage.

Rupert Psmith showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Bateman ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Bateman fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Psmith manages to avoid it.
Psmith uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Bateman.
Bateman tries to bum rush Psmith with a series of wild strikes but Psmith uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Bateman chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Psmith can pounce on him.

Psmith moves out of range as Bateman strikes.
Psmith lands with a hook. Bateman tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

and Psmith counters with a slapping leg kick.
Rupert Psmith seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Bateman takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

Psmith uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Bateman has time to react.

Rupert Psmith comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Psmith has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
