PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Zak Drezner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ike Turner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Drezner comes to the cage accompanied by Cypress Hill - Checkmate. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 29 - 7 - 3, fighting out of Las Vegas, Zak Drezner!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ike Turner!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Drezner looks to score with a jab to the body but Turner is just out of range.
Turner shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Turner throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Turner motions for Drezner to come forward. Turner throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Drezner misses with a body kick.
Both fighters circling a little - Drezner finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
A head kick misses from Drezner.
Drezner swats away the attempt to clinch by Turner.
Turner tries a low kick but Drezner avoids it.
Drezner throws a quick inside leg kick.
Drezner keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Turner misses with a few strikes there.
Drezner throws a sloppy head kick and Turner moves out of range easily.
Drezner throws a head kick that Turner semi-blocks.
Drezner avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Drezner fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Turner has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Drezner swings and misses with a hook to the body.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A leg kick checked by Turner.
Turner slips a jab and a cross from Drezner.
Drezner lets loose with a powerful body kick. Turner will feel that in the morning.
Drezner throws a nice outside leg kick.
Turner throws a nice inside leg kick.
Turner explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Turner looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Drezner lands a head kick. Turner smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Turner takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Drezner throws a leg kick but Turner sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Turner throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Turner throws a leg kick which misses Drezner's front leg but catches the back leg as Drezner tries to avoid it.
Drezner takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

Turner darts in and clinches Drezner up against the cage.
Drezner blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A right hook to the body lands for Turner.

Drezner breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Turner tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Drezner throws a head kick but Turner moves out of range.
Turner throws a push kick but Drezner slaps the foot to one side.
Drezner keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Turner.
Nice uppercut there from Drezner.
Turner attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Drezner scores with a jab. Turner acknowledges it with a nod of the head.


Turner is rocked!
Turner misses with a double jab.
Turner is still on wobbly legs! Can Drezner finish him?
Drezner turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Turner throws a lazy uppercut
and Drezner counters with a beautiful right hand that knocks Turner out cold! What a finish! Drezner is going crazy, running around the mat, summersaulting off the corner posts and screaming into the cameras. Something tells me he's pretty happy!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Zak Drezner!
Zak Drezner retains his lightweight title!
A relieved looking Zak Drezner thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
