PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Eric Ford (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sean Parker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ford comes into the arena with For What It's Worth blaring out of the sound system. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Eric Ford!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sean Parker!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and .




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ford tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Ford wants to clinch up but Parker keeps it at a distance.

Ford shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Parker manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Parker keeping full guard, as Ford tries to pass.

Parker working for a triangle but Ford defends it easily.
Ford is looking to stand up but Parker won't let him.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Ford accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Ford gets to his feet. Parker looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Ford swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Parker counters by moving into the clinch.

Parker breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A combination from Parker does no damage.
Ford stuffs the takedown.

Ford has closed the distance and engaged Parker in a clinch.
Parker is working for takedown but Ford is calmly controlling the position for now.
Parker throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Parker prevents the takedown attempt.
Ford throws an elbow but it misses.
Parker works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Parker wants a takedown but no success here.
Eric Ford has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sean Parker.

Ford turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Ford manages to end up in side control.
Parker is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Ford asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Ford taking a break here but Parker is having none of it and regains half guard.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Ford is looking for a kimura but Parker is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Ford to get the leverage.
Parker is in trouble now - Ford has advanced to mount!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ford swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Parker is now in Ford's guard. A big mistake from Ford there, giving up the dominant position!

Ford is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Parker is controlling him.
Ford might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Ford is looking for a triangle here but Parker uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Parker wants to control for a moment but Ford uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.
Ford manages to get to full guard.

Parker stands up from Ford's guard - Parker perhaps looking for a knockout.

Parker drives through and clinches with Ford against the cage.

Ford has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Parker is trying to keep an underhook but Ford manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Parker is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Parker keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Ford seems to be looking for submissions.
Parker is trying to stand back up but Ford is controlling him
Ford is keen to just control but Parker is a slippery customer.
Ford throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Parker looks like he's trying to stand up.

Ford is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Parker tries to kick Ford off but Ford keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Eric Ford dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Ford darts in trying to clinch
and Parker cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Parker ducks right into an uppercut from Ford.


It looks like Sean Parker has been cut.
Parker fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Ford avoids it really well and circles away.
Parker tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Ford defends well and Parker ends up having to push Ford into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Parker on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Parker jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Ford walks away with a smile on his face. Parker gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Eric Ford has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sean Parker.
Parker swats away the attempt to clinch by Ford.
Ford throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Parker.
Parker tries for a takedown but Ford sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Ford lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Parker keeps the fight on the outside.
Ford darts in trying to clinch

and Parker counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Ford's guard now.

Ford looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Parker throwing strikes from guard but Ford blocks nicely.

Ford has his foot on Parker's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Parker works his way back into a safe position though.
Parker working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Parker really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ford. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Parker stands up over Ford, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Ford is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Parker postures up.

Parker lands a couple of digs.
Ford is trying to keep Parker in close.
Parker missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Parker landing with the ground and pound.
Ford wants to sweep but no luck.
Ford working a defensive guard here.

Ford had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Parker defends it easily.

Ford looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Ford can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Parker controls the pace.
Eric Ford overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Ford will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Ford is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Parker is aware though and is defending well.
Parker passes Ford's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Ford is trying to get back to full guard.
Ford is working hard here to advance position.
Ford is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Parker's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Parker's back!
