Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Lee Shelton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Carrier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shelton comes to the cage accompanied by Stagger Lee - Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. Mike Carrier has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Lee Shelton's chin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Carrier looks to land a body kick but Shelton moved away.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Carrier.
Carrier tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Shelton paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Carrier has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

Carrier tries to close the distance and clinch up but Shelton swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Shelton shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Carrier's guard.

Carrier is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Carrier is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Shelton gets to his feet - Carrier follows without any prompting.

Mike Carrier seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Carrier is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Shelton is defending well for now.

Shelton breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Carrier changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Shelton tries to avoid it but Carrier manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Shelton to the ground. Shelton escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Shelton throws a right and a left that Carrier avoids nicely.
Carrier shoots for a takedown but Shelton saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Shelton is looking to wear down Carrier with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Carrier tries to bum rush Shelton with a series of wild strikes but Shelton uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
No joy there for Shelton, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Carrier swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Shelton counters with a three punch combo that has Carrier backing up. Carrier nods at Shelton to acknowledge the strikes.

Shelton avoids a punch combination nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Carrier is trying desperately to land a takedown but Shelton is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Carrier.

It looks like Lee Shelton has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Shelton throws a series of strikes that have Carrier backpedaling.
Carrier is still on wobbly legs! Can Shelton finish him?
Shelton fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Carrier.
Shelton steps into range and unloads a brutal right left combo! Carrier is out on his feet! Shelton sets himself and nearly takes Carrier's head off with a straight right, sending him crashing to the mat! Wow, that was nasty... but awesome! Wooo!

In his post fight interview, Lee Shelton started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
