Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Domenic Amato (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Liebling (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Amato kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genuis that is Du Hast. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Domenic Amato! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Johnny Liebling! The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, John Mangel and Eliza Hachem.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Amato lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Amato misses with a body kick. Amato clinches with his opponent.
Amato has a couple of punches blocked by Liebling.
Amato is stalling here.
Amato scores with a shoulder strike. Liebling wants to stall.
Liebling is trying to slow the pace down but that's a couple of times in a row that he's tried to get underhooks and Amato has denied him. Amato lands an uppercut. Amato controlling the action here for a moment.
Amato escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

That's one minute gone in the round. Liebling has hold of one of Amato's legs. Amato is fighting the takedown attempt but Liebling gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Amato looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Liebling passes into half guard.
Amato is staying active underneath Liebling, who seems content to just control the action from this position. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Liebling prevents Amato from improving his position. Liebling tries to pass the half guard into mount. Amato knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Amato makes his way to full guard, as Liebling worked for a kimura.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Liebling pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Amato pushes Liebling up against the ropes in a clinch. Amato swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Amato lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Liebling or not. Amato looking to slow down the pace here. Amato has clasped his hands together around Liebling's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Liebling is looking for a sweep. Amato is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Liebling is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Liebling is not content to let Amato control the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Amato is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Liebling is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Liebling sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Amato wants to work for an arm triangle but Liebling is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Amato seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Liebling does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. The fighters are battling for position here. Liebling manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Liebling is trying to control the position but Amato postures up.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Liebling escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Amato gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Amato knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Liebling on the ground. Amato trying to control but Liebling is working from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Liebling is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Liebling throws his legs up looking for a submission but Amato uses it to pass to side control.
Amato grinds an elbow into Liebling's temple. Amato working away. Liebling is looking for a sweep. Amato tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Amato goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Liebling rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Amato's guard! Nice work there by Liebling! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Domenic Amato dominated that round. That's time! Amato's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Liebling shoots for a takedown but Amato saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Amato fails with a takedown attempt. Liebling drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Amato tries to improve position but can't. Liebling wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Amato, who protects the arm well. You can see the frustration on Amato's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Liebling tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Liebling has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
That's one minute gone in the round. Liebling wants to lay and pray for a moment but Amato keeps working. Amato tries to buck Liebling off but Liebling is having none of it. Amato struggling a bit here. Amato is not content to let Liebling control the position.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Liebling shoots and misses and Amato counters with a takedown into side control. Liebling is breathing heavily. Amato wants to control but Liebling is keeping him busy. A control attempt from Liebling but he's now mounted!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Amato looking to control and managing it successfully. Amato with a couple of short strikes. A nice elbow there by Amato. Liebling tries to reverse the position but Amato maintains control. Domenic Amato overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Liebling is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Amato lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Liebling hang on? Amato looking to control but Liebling is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Liebling is trying desperately to improve position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Amato postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Liebling looks a forlorn figure.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Amato cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Amato landing punches. Amato controlling the pace for now. Liebling is desperately trying to improve his position but Amato has a good base and remains in mount. Amato punishing his opponent with strikes. Liebling in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Liebling slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Amato trying to control from half guard but Liebling is working away. Liebling trying to control but Amato postures up.

Domenic Amato dominated that second round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Amato shoots in for a takedown but Liebling shows good takedown defense. Amato throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Liebling. Domenic Amato is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Amato throws a lazy right hand but Liebling sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Amato throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Liebling gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Amato counters with a shoot takedown. Liebling fights it but they end up in guard. Liebling trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! Liebling looking for a guillotine here but Amato defends easily.

That's one minute gone in the round. Liebling controlling Amato's posture. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Liebling not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Liebling has momentary wrist control but Amato slips an elbow through the middle. Amato wants to control from the top but Liebling keeps moving. Liebling trying to keep a closed guard but Amato is proving a slippery customer.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Amato wants to clinch. Liebling slips under a jab from Amato. Liebling shoots in but no luck this time. Amato throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Amato tries to clinch up but Liebling circles away and keeps his distance. Amato avoids a punch combination nicely.
The fight moves into the clinch position. Amato is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

Liebling gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. Amato trying to keep a closed guard but Liebling is proving a slippery customer.
Liebling throws a big right hand that misses. Liebling with a flurry of punches that miss. Amato looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Liebling wants to control from the top but Amato keeps moving. Liebling pushing down on Amato's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Amato is looking for a sweep. Liebling is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Liebling is trying to control the action in half guard but Amato is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Amato tries to clinch up. Johnny Liebling seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Liebling throws a sloppy head kick and Amato moves out of range easily. Liebling shoots and misses and Amato makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Domenic Amato has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Johnny Liebling. Liebling closes the distance and clinches. Liebling is pressed up against the ropes. Amato has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Liebling down to the mat. Liebling avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Liebling drives through and clinches with Amato against the ropes.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Domenic Amato. Well Amato has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win...
