Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mike Houston (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jesse Cox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Houston comes to the cage accompanied by Here Comes the Pain. Cox is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Razormind Remix. Jesse Cox is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jesse Cox!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Hugh Johnson and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cox closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Cox stops Houston from getting back to his feet.
Cox content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Let's hope that Cox has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Jesse Cox has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Houston darts in trying to clinch
and Cox counters with a series of strikes. Houston will be more careful next time no doubt.

Houston looks for a takedown but Cox sprawls well.
Houston looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Cox is fending him off so far but Houston persists. Nope, Cox circles away and we're back to standing.
Nice takedown defense from Houston. No joy for Cox on that attempt.

Cox moves nicely into side control.

Cox is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Houston knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Cox remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Cox is trying to get an arm triangle but Houston is defending well.

Cox is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Houston looks calm but he's in trouble here. Cox gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Houston is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Cox lets go of the hold and Houston can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Jesse Cox!
Jesse Cox tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
