Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Johnny Wooten! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Nanthan Lupan! The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Dmitry Maklakov and Sergei Dronov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wooten takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Wooten throws a low kick but Lupan moves out of range easily. Wooten takes a jab right on the kisser.
Nanthan Lupan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. No joy there for Lupan, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Wooten pivots, looking for a leg kick but Lupan is out of range and Wooten settles back down. Lupan swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Lupan checks a leg kick nicely. Lupan misses with a looping right. Lupan throws a solid leg kick but Wooten takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Lupan. Wooten stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Wooten wants it to stay on the feet. Lupan throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Wooten on the side of the head. Lupan looks to score with a jab to the body but Wooten is just out of range. Lupan doesn't manage to clinch there - Wooten circles away.
Lupan misses with a straight right. Lupan looks to score with a jab to the body but Wooten is just out of range. Lupan misses the shot to the body. Wooten fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Lupan fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lupan misses with an uppercut. Lupan is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Wooten. Lupan throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Wooten avoids a punch combination nicely.
Lupan throws a series of punches but Wooten moves out of range. Wooten throws a leg kick but Lupan moved away. Wooten throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land. Lupan shoots in for a takedown and gets it. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Lupan seems to be looking for submissions.
Lupan prevents Wooten from improving his position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lupan is trying for a kimura here. Wooten looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Lupan wins by kimura!
