Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between John McGuirk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Armor King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). King has chosen Armor King as his entrance music. Armor King has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John McGuirk!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Armor King!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Daniel Franklin and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
King fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
King lands with a shot to the body.
McGuirk is looking to clinch but King is avoiding it.

McGuirk gets a clinch.
King jumps guard but McGuirk stands there with King around his waist. King gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
McGuirk wants a takedown but no success here.
McGuirk is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

King manages to break the clinch.
McGuirk misses with a takedown attempt - King sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

A momentary lapse in concentration from McGuirk enables King to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. McGuirk manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
McGuirk wants to control but King passes easily into half guard.
McGuirk wants to control but King is keeping busy and won't allow it.

King is pressing down on McGuirk's thigh, looking to free his foot. McGuirk is holding on for now.

McGuirk tries to get to full guard but King has control of the leg.
King takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
My spies in Australian Xtreme Elite Stand Up Training inform me that King has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

King prevents McGuirk from improving his position.
King trying to mount his opponent but McGuirk defends it.
King missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
McGuirk is trying to stand.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McGuirk avoiding damage under a succession of punches from King.
King looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

McGuirk is trying to stand back up but King is controlling him
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Armor King wasn't active enough on the ground.
King shoots in for a double leg but McGuirk sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
John McGuirk has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Armor King.
McGuirk slaps away a takedown attempt from King, before circling back to the center of the mat.
McGuirk tries for a takedown but King sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

King has managed to clinch.
McGuirk tries to land a knee to the head but King blocks with his arms.
McGuirk wants to stall.
King doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

Some stalling of biblical proportions here from King.
McGuirk stalls.

McGuirk's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

King gets in close and instigates a clinch.
A frustrated look appears on McGuirk's face as he tries to break the clinch.
King is looking for a takedown up against the cage. McGuirk gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
King wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
King is trying to stall.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

McGuirk's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

King dives in and scores a takedown into McGuirk's guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
King trying to control but McGuirk is working from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Armor King dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


McGuirk is looking to clinch but King is avoiding it.

King has McGuirk up against the cage in a clinch.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
King tries to circle away but McGuirk has him pinned against the cage.

McGuirk breaks the clinch.

King gets in close and instigates a clinch.
King has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by McGuirk after a bit of a struggle.

King shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. King showed some decent athleticism there.
McGuirk is looking to escape.

King is thwarting McGuirk's attempts to control the position.
McGuirk is looking to improve his position.
King throwing shots but McGuirk is blocking nicely.

King is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
King stops McGuirk from getting back to his feet.

McGuirk is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst King is controlling him.

King gets to his feet. McGuirk looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Horrible takedown by McGuirk or perhaps it was just good defense by King which made him look bad.
King throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
McGuirk fakes high and swings low for a body shot but King manages to avoid it.

King tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but McGuirk swivels and escapes.
A shot to the liver by McGuirk. Beautiful body shot.

King gets tackled into the cage by McGuirk. McGuirk maintains the clinch.
King is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
King wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Our sources have told us that McGuirk has been working on his elbows in the gym.
McGuirk drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
King tries to pull guard but McGuirk won't allow it.

McGuirk gets through King's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
McGuirk tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and King avoids it.

McGuirk has dropped down and is working for a takedown. King is trying to keep an underhook but McGuirk manages to get the takedown into half guard.

McGuirk missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
King gets full guard.
McGuirk trying to control but King is working from the bottom.
This has been an exciting period of action!
McGuirk would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
King throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
McGuirk wants to control from the top but King keeps moving.
McGuirk looking to sit in guard and control but King gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
King is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that John McGuirk will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


King shoots in looking for a takedown but McGuirk manages to keep the fight standing, pushing King's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

King clinches.
McGuirk wants a takedown but no success here.
McGuirk prevents a takedown attempt there.
King tries to pull guard but McGuirk won't allow it.

McGuirk has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics King uses from the top position.

King stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows McGuirk to get to his feet.
King shoots in for a double leg but McGuirk sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

King forces McGuirk back against the cage and clinches.
McGuirk tries a knee to the head but King blocks it.

McGuirk is pushing King up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

McGuirk's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

King gets a clinch.
McGuirk lands a right hand that snaps the head of King backwards.
McGuirk avoiding damage as King throws knees to the body.
King has McGuirk pressed against the cage, preventing McGuirk from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
King jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as McGuirk walks away with a smile on his face. King gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
King ducks under a wild hook from McGuirk.

King gets the takedown into side control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
McGuirk is looking for a sweep.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here as King stalls from top position.

King is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. McGuirk knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

McGuirk is not content to let King control the position.
McGuirk tries to improve position but can't.
King trying to control the action but McGuirk is working from the bottom.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
McGuirk is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but King has just dragged him back down to the mat.

And that's the end of the fight!
Armor King comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think King has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Armor King decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
