Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Zappa Olive (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Jarvis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Zappa Olive!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Paul Jarvis!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Trevor Gratis and Gregory Folan.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jarvis manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Olive on his heels. He'll look to pass Olive's guard now, I'm sure.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Olive tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Olive is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Jarvis controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Olive is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Jarvis throws a lazy head kick
and Olive counters with a big head kick but Jarvis shrugs it off.

Jarvis shoots in and gets a takedown into Olive's guard.
Jarvis trying to control the position from guard on top but Olive is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Olive has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Olive is on top in guard.
Olive controls from within his opponent's guard.
Olive has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Jarvis tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Olive fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Olive throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Jarvis's waist but Jarvis gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Olive off to one side.

Olive will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Zappa Olive. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Olive stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Jarvis.
Jarvis looks to clinch

and Olive counters with a single leg into guard. Jarvis didn't expect that.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Jarvis can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Olive controls the pace.
Olive won't allow Jarvis to get back to his feet.
Jarvis not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Olive is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Jarvis is trying to control the position but Olive postures up.

We're going to have a standup here because Zappa Olive wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Jarvis closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Olive to the mat! Olive manages to get full guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Jarvis is trying to escape the mount.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Olive content just to control the position here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Zappa Olive will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Zappa Olive is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Olive enables Jarvis to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Olive manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Olive has control of Jarvis's left arm, preventing Jarvis from doing any damage.
Olive manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Jarvis tries to hold on but Olive pushes him away.

Jarvis defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Olive's arms.
A bit of a pause in the action here. Olive controlling the positon.
Jarvis tries to break free.
Jarvis is breathing heavily.

Olive gets his hands free as Jarvis looks to control.

Olive is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Jarvis has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Olive has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Jarvis taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Olive doesn't care though - he's delighted!
