Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jorge Junior!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 14 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Holden James!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Leandro Rodrigues and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Junior.
Junior throws a right and a left that James avoids nicely.
James throws a chopping leg kick but Junior manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Junior dives in and grabs James's left leg, looking for a takedown. James pushes down on Junior's head and hops out.
Junior tries for a takedown but James sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
James tries to clinch there but Junior circles away.
James checks a leg kick nicely.
Junior throws a wild body kick that James sees coming a mile off.

Jorge Junior seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Junior cracks James with a good jab.
Junior avoids the head kick by James.

James is looking to clinch but Junior is avoiding it.

James moves to clinch but Junior breaks away

and Junior counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for James!
James parries the strikes from Junior easily there. Junior is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable James to escape.
James dodges the ground and pound from Junior.

Junior wants to take a breather but James manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Junior.
James is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now James is on top in guard.
James wants to control from the top but Junior keeps moving.

Junior has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

James gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Junior throws a strike but James rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Junior pulls James in close to prevent any damage.

Junior has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
James must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Junior has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but James can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Junior looking to hit a scissor sweep but James is one step ahead there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Junior seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

James decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Junior darts in looking for a takedown but James gets double underhooks and turns Junior into the cage.

Junior's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

James closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
James misses with the head strike.
Junior lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.

James throws a hook but Junior avoids it easily.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

and Junior counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in James's guard now.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Junior accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

James wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Junior's closed guard. He's half up but Junior has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Junior pivots and extends the arm, James falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Junior! Well done that man!

Jorge Junior decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
