The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Frank Dennis and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barreda lands an overhand right.
Sonnen looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Barreda lands with a nice body punch.
Sonnen scores with a one two! Barreda had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Sonnen thows a body shot but no joy.
Good exchange - Sonnen coming out on top.
Jesus Barreda seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Barreda thuds a left hand into Sonnen's body.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Barreda just misses with a punch to the body.
Barreda looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Sonnen falls off balance throwing a combination
and Barreda counters with a three punch combo that has Sonnen backing up. Sonnen nods at Barreda to acknowledge the strikes.
Barreda tries to bum rush Sonnen with a series of wild strikes but Sonnen uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Barreda throws a lazy right hand but Sonnen sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Barreda misses with the combination.
Sonnen moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Sonnen takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
It looks like Ryan Sonnen has been cut.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Barreda lands a big right hand that sends Sonnen crashing to the mat! Barreda stays standing though and waves Sonnen back to his feet!
Sonnen is rocked!
Barreda throws a series of punches but Sonnen avoids them all with ease.
Sonnen is still on wobbly legs! Can Barreda finish him?
Sonnen defending well as Barreda loads up on a big left hand.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Sonnen showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Barreda.
Sonnen swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Barreda digs a good hook to Sonnen's body.
Nice cross by Barreda.
Barreda steps into range and unloads a brutal right left combo! Sonnen is out on his feet! Barreda sets himself and nearly takes Sonnen's head off with a straight right, sending him crashing to the mat! Wow, that was nasty... but awesome! Wooo!
