Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jack Ryan! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jason Jones! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ryan closes this distance looking for a takedown but Jones circles away. Ryan shoots for a takedown but Jones saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Ryan decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Ryan is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Jones has managed to free his arm - good work. Ryan is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Ryan wants to pass to mount but Jones is defending the position. Ryan looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Jones wants to control but Ryan is keeping busy and won't allow it. Ryan is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jones is trying to get back to full guard. Jones trying to control but Ryan postures up.

Ryan moves nicely into side control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ryan working the head with strikes. That's two minutes gone in the round. Ryan working the head and body with strikes. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Jones is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Ryan pulls his head out easily. Jones regains full guard. Nicely done. Jones is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Ryan passes easily into side control. Nice work. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ryan has an Americana. Jones didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Ryan is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Ryan hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:52 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Jack Ryan! A relieved looking Jack Ryan thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
