Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ben Askren (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Don Don (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ben Askren!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Don Don!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Don misses with a looping right.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Don connects with a crisp jab.

Askren shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Askren looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Askren is nestled in close to Don, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Askren lands with a punch from half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Don is looking for a sweep. Askren is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Don is defending against the submission attempts here by Askren.

Askren is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Don defends it well.
Askren prevents Don from improving his position.

Don is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Askren pulls his head out easily.

Don wants to improve his position but Askren is controlling well.
Askren landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

Askren has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Askren moves into full mount! Don won't be happy about that!

Askren lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Don is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Askren goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Don is on top in guard.

Don stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Askren swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Don trying to control but Askren is working from the bottom.

Don tries to free his leg and advance position but Askren is retaining full guard.
Don is looking to advance position but Askren has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
Don slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Askren thows a huge punch but Don dodges it nicely.

Don actively working from the bottom here.
Don on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Askren seems to be looking for submissions.
Askren is breathing heavily.
Askren looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Don with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Askren is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Don doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Askren.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Askren's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Askren winds up and cracks Don with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Askren is looking for a kimura but Don is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Askren to get the leverage.
Askren is thwarting Don's attempts to control the position.
Askren is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Askren not landing any meaningful shots this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Askren throwing shots but Don is blocking nicely.

Askren is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Don defends it well.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Askren connects with a nice short shot to Don's temple.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Don wants to improve his position but Askren is controlling well.
Don moves into full guard.

Askren is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Askren drops back, looking for a kneebar! Don looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Don looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Don!

Don wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Askren, who protects the arm well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Don trying to control the position but Askren is working away.

Don looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Don thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Askren gets back to half guard.
Askren keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.

Don is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Askren is just riding it out for now. Don eventually gives up the hold.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Askren is refusing to be controlled, as Don sits in half guard.
Askren is controlling Don's position as best he can from this difficult position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Don is working for a kimura but Askren is defending it quite comfortably.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ben Askren dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Askren drives through with a takedown into guard.

Askren has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Don to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Askren is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Don pulls down on the head and he's put Askren to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:35 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Don Don!
