Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Runner Jay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bobby Whitman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Runner Jay!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Bobby Whitman!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Chris Saunders and Ryoma Takatsuka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Whitman tries to clinch up.
Bobby Whitman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Whitman closes the distance but Jay moves to the side

and Jay counters with a nice double leg into guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Jay accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Jay pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Whitman is keeping the position for now.

Jay loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Jay drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Whitman manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Jay has Whitman in his guard.

Whitman is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Jay keeping moving, preventing Whitman from controlling successfully.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Whitman throwing strikes from guard but Jay blocks nicely.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Whitman stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jay swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Whitman thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Jay is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Jay working for a triangle but Whitman defends it easily.

Jay is looking for a triangle but Whitman pushes his legs off easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Whitman got a little sloppy there for a moment and Jay has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Whitman has managed to get both his arms back between Jay's legs - danger averted.
Jay is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Jay lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Whitman!

Jay misses with a head shot.

Jay moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Whitman has worked his arm free - good work by Whitman!

Jay is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Whitman knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Jay is breathing heavily.
Whitman tries to escape but Jay is in control.

Jay tries for a kimura but Whitman is defending well.
Whitman wants to get back to his feet but Jay drags him back down.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jay landing a few strikes.
Whitman tries to buck Jay off but Jay is having none of it.
The ground and pound from Jay seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Jay tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Jay has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Jay swings around for an armbar but Whitman sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Jay's guard.

Whitman drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Whitman as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Jay screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Whitman! Nice submission victory there!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kneebar). Bobby Whitman!
